hi guys. I manged to book the Courtyard by Marriot Hong Kong (4*)next April for £50 per night rather than the £91 advertised on Hotels.com. I started the bidding of at 40 then by adding different zones I got up to the £50 mark.

Use the method posted and you should get some sucess.

    Thanks
  • I have been using Priceline Name Your Own Price for years... with much success :)

Am about to do a trip, starting and finishing in Boston, Mass. I have managed to get the Sheraton, Prudential Centre for £50 per night(£198 on Expedia at time of booking) for 2 nights at the beginning of the trip and the Boston Park Plaza for £54 per night (£184 on BPP site at time of booking) for 2 nights at end of trip. Have also booked the other 8 nights of trip on Priceline - 2.5 star accommodation, all at 50% reduction on costs elsewhere. I rarely book elsewhere. - I have managed to get the Boston Park Plaza for £35 per night in the past.

Priceline used to make you wait 72 hours before rebidding when unsuccessful, now it is only 24 hours.... consequently, I usually start with random bids, but hope to get 40-50% reduction on the lowest price I can get elsewhere. It is good to have some idea of the geography of the city and the hotels that populate each area of your required city. eg Boston, Cambridge is quite a large area with some hotels being some distance to public transport, so I only include it when I am desperate and my trip date is drawing near. However, I have managed to get some very good deals in that area.

I have just booked Glasgow Marriot 4 star premium hotel in Argyl street in central Glasgow Scotland for 5 nights.
I have payed £47 per night plus tax at end of October. A Good deal as advertised best price was over £110 a night.
I generally really like the Marriot chain hotels.

Well, I think I've got a good deal here. What does anyone else think?

Going to Boston in September for five nights. Started off selecting the Quincy/Faneuil Hall/ Financial Area at 3 and a half stars and £60 per night.

Rejected, so added Copley Square area, and £65 per night

Rejected, so added 3 star to selection and increased to £70 per night.

After much searching, the screen came up to say that the transaction could not be processed (and that would be because I 'accidentally' put in the expiry date from my card).

There was an option to use another card, and because I got so excited at getting a bid accepted I decided to just go for it!

The confirmation came up with The Bulfinch Hotel, at £400.10 inc taxes for 5 nights. Searching on the hotel website and the various websites that Tripadvisor uses, my dates are coming up with total costs of between £1150 and £1200.

The reviews don't seem to be too bad, the negative comments in general relating to the fact that the rooms are small. Don't plan on spending too much time in the room anyway.

With special thanks to Blindman and DMG24 for their help in answering my previous posts. Will post the result on BetterBidding in a bit. I could get to like this! :)

I'm not sure if PL can track these "mistakes" so don't make a habit of it. ;)
In reality for this bid you don't know how much you saved as you jumped from £65 to £70.
Seems to be a good price from previous histories.
