    You actually said

    Which is incorrect.

I'm all for learning new stuff etc but if you're going to give advice at least get it from experience or some reliable source.

The sad part is Blindman that you yourself are assuming that you are correct whilst arrogantly and rather stupidly dismissing others as incorrect. Perhaps we are both guilty of assumptions.

Can YOU provide evidence that priceline do not engage in this practice? I am all for learning new things and all so I am happy to be corrected on that point if you can point me to some evidence.

I spoke from my own experience and as did Nordictat. You speak from your experience. You are welcome to speak from that experience as I am also entitled to speak from experience.

In my experience the Hotels dictate the Policy to the providers and I would include Pricline in that. Do you think Priceline would quibble with a Hotel who said we would prefer not to have the names of guests until two weeks prior to their stay? I doubt it because in my experience it is common practice. How widespread it is with Priceline who knows - you certainly dont.

The reality is you like to pretend on this board that you are some form of guru who knows it all when sadly like most of us you muddle along and do your best. That is all that can be expected really of any of us and you are no different. You more than likely get most of your information from other bidding sites including the excellent betterbidding service where I have noted you are a contributor. I hope you encourage people to follow the links through that site to support it - has thereuare set up a UK link to priceline yet?

I only have their statement as provided and my 10 years experience of using their site and speaking to other PL users through Betterbidding.

I spoke from my own experience and as did Nordictat.
Nordictat2 was not speaking of her ;) Priceline experience.

If this is not extensive PL experience of this occurrence then it's not relevant to the original users problem.

Not personally happened to me neither have I heard of it before in 10 years, but I could be wrong.

I wouldn't say that but Martin did copy my article, asked me to appear on TV (cringeworthy video) and I believe I've helped a fair few people save loads of money.
I believe there a people on MSE who've been using PL longer than me though...

I didn't invent PL or the assoicated forums and that information has never raised the issue of PL not informing the hotel immediately of a winning bid
including the excellent betterbidding service where I have noted you are a contributor.
Actually I'm an Admin, but keep a low profile these days.

I hope you encourage people to follow the links through that site to support it
Have you actually read my guide?
Register with Betterbidding and ask for a strategy, give the information required.
If you do ask for help then please support the site to help keep it going by bidding through their affiliate links.

    - has thereuare set up a UK link to priceline yet?

Thereuare will answer questions about PL UK but ultimately he gets support\money for the board via his US links to various companies.I do not know (but I could ask) if he will set up a UK link.
I believe there is some background anomosity between PL UK and PL US (Just summising). Biddingfortravel don't support the UK site.

I raised the profile of Priceline here on MSE so that users could either use the UK site by themselves or if they ask thereuare for a strategy they should at least click through his support links and add the data to his site.

    End of: :D

You know when you go on Priceline name your price and you get to the bit where it says 'Try it now'? If I click on there am I committing myself to anything or is it really just to see how it works? Don't want to be committing myself to anything as this stage!!

You don't until you enter your CC details ;) Which you have to do if you want to see if you got the room at that price :D

Winning Bid £57 per night plus taxes
Best published rate £120 plus taxes

Very happy as I have status with Marriott (thanks to a certain MSEer ;) ), so will get upgrade to concierge level, free breakfast etc!

I split my bids after bidding up to £80 for the four nights as a whole, so now just have to get the other two. May treat myself to a non opaque rate!

Just wanted to comment on this odd argument over the last few posts of this thread. blindman and I do not always see eye to eye, but in terms of helping people with Priceline he has done more for the forum than anybody else has, including the MSE Team. If anybody is in any doubt over this, just read his posts!
    Gone ... or have I?

Well done at splitting the bid. What were the hotel rates over the other two days?

    You have a PM
    • Destination: London Holiday Inn Forum -Kensington
    • Type of accommodation: four star hotel - 4*
    • How many extra daily bids did you have available: 3
    • How much were your 2nd/3rd etc & final bids: 1st 50, 2nd 55 (excl charges)- accepted
It was my 1st time...and it was gooooood...hahaha! Seriously, my 1st time using priceline...dead easy... bottom line got hotel in Kensington where I wanted....normal price if book online is £146...I paid £68.

Great way to save money if have some flexibility on area you can stay.
