Thanks for the link and for the CEO email address.
It seems that if you have the TT anytime phone package you have to pay £4.03 for inclusive calls to 36 International countries instead of the £3.00 charge on the Plus TV, phone and broadband package. This is unclear on the website.

I do commend Sky for the clarity of their pricing structure on their website despite not being able to pay their prices.

The reason I had the problem was because I was trying to add the £3 international Boost and that price boost is not available on the Talk UK Anytime (phone only) package.

I stand by my comment on the simplicity and clarity of pricing a package on the Sky website. But I still can't afford or justify the cost of taking out their Sports package as I only wish to watch golf.

I used Dido's email address to report a problem I was having and since then I have had an email from 'his iPad' and this was followed by three separate phone calls from TT staff and I also received a couple of emails, the last one offering me another 12 month contract which will save me £10.75 from their advertised rates.

What a result and all because I used this Forum. Thank you.

  • so is the primus saver the best deal to go for, I also have sky tv but primus will work out cheaper and sky say they don't have broadband in my area.
  • I have just telephoned BT to request an application form for the above tariff as I am in receipt of Pension Credit.

I was immediately told that there is a connection charge of £130 for this service!!!!

I cannot find this information anywhere on the web, so if you are considering this service, don't bother!!

Have you not got a phone line already then ?

If you have an existing BT Line/Account their is no connection charge.

Or if you transfer an existing line from another compatible supplier to BT their would be no connection charge.

I have just extended my Talk Talk contract for another 12 months. I was made an offer I could almost not refuse - extend for 12 months for same price as I am currently paying. I phoned up Customer Loyalty the next day and asked if that was the best they could do and was offered another £2 per month discount.

I have broadband (unlimited?) anytime UK calls plus calls to 36 european countries included - all for £19.75 per month for a year.

I never, ever, have any problems with my phone line but my broadband plays up from time to time. For this price I am willing to go into the ring for several rounds with Talk Talk Customer Services. From what I hear from customers of other providers, there is not much difference in their customer service. as all their customer services are abroad and we all get the oh so polite; very apologetic CSA's who seem to be untrained to deal with our problems.

If I am willing to pay a years line rental in advance, I will get a further discount. I must work out how much this will be before I sign up.

I'm thinking about switching to Primus, they have a great deal at £7.49 a month which expires tomorrow, but a couple of things are making me hesitate - I can't see any contact numbers at all on their website, and was wondering how they handle customer service? Do you only get the customer service number once you've actually signed up? I'm a bit concerned about what I'd do if there are any problems making the transfer from BT, how would I be able to contact Primus?

Also wondered if anyone had experience with switching from BT? I called them and they offered me a better deal than my current line rental and calls with them (why didn't they bother offering that before, I wonder ....) but it was still nearly £4 a month more than Primus. They said I would have to give them 30 days notice to change providers, but when I looked on their website later on it says that it's only 14 days notice if you are switching to another provider.

Does that notice period mean I can't switch in time to get the Primus deal (expires tomorrow), or would I just have to register with Primus by tomorrow.

Also, does anyone know what happens with the amount already paid to BT for line rental in advance - I pay for 3 months in advance with each bill, and as I just paid, will be leaving them while there is still 2 months rental paid up front. My calls costs won't come to anything like that amount, so presumably I'll get money back from BT for unused rental? The guy at BT didn't seem to know how that would work, apparently most of their customers are on 12 month contracts, I don't have any long term contract with them (beyond the 30 days notice, presumably).

Any help from anyone who's done the switch would be much appreciated!

    Badly.Beware !!! See: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3879985

Like a bus their tends to be another one of their offers coming along all the
    time.

Nothing in the notice period stops you taking up offers.New supplier supposed to sort it all out for you, when you sign up with them.no requirement for you to contact BT.

"Once we have provided the service, you may tell us to stop providing it at any time by giving us 30 days' written notice, either by email to any email address we may have given you or by letter to the address on your last BT bill or any other address we have given you, for that purpose. If you are switching to another provider through an approved process, the notice you must give us will be 14 days. We can stop providing the service to you by giving you 28 days' written notice."

Any overpayment of BT normal line rental would normally be refunded to you .
  • My mother has to have a BT line for her emergency call button.

She barely uses the phone, and currently does not have broadband; she would be a low user. Plus she lives in deepest Norfolk and doesn't have/won't use a mobile phone. Well, she is 84...

Can anyone suggest good options to get her onto the internet cheaply?
