My LRS has just come to an end and I want to try and get my line rental costs as low as possible. I have heard that some Sky customers have managed to get line rental for £3/month but I would prefer to stay with BT. Anyone had any joy getting BT line rental for a lower cost than the Line Rental Saver (LRS) price of £10.75?0

Is there a website where you can enter all your specifications for home phone and broadband and get a list (hopefully) of results? I have looked at several comparison sites.
My LRS deal is drawing to a close.
Looking for a deal that I can cancel at short notice as I plan to move job and house and don't want to be paying off an old contract when I do. Also don't want to be tied into a rolling contract as I had a bad experience with this before.
Landline & calls - I make a lot of calls during the day, so would prefer all calls included.
Broadband that is reliable.
Need to cancel with a month's notice.
Any advice will be gratefully appreciated. Thanks0 -
Does anyone know if Post Office Home Phone allow override providers, i.e. 18185?0

I wouldn't recommend Primus to anyone - they do seem cheap but it will soon hit you that this is a false economy! The line quality has been poor from the start and it has not worked completely now for six weeks. They will not respond to emails and when you call you can't get through, you get the usual 'call important, answered shortly' message but then after ages, you get cut off. They've also just decided to up my line rental without telling me or explanation and against the contract plus I've discovered they charge for calls you haven't made as well as weekend calls which should be free.
MSE please stop advertising this company. There are so many people out there, from many different forums, in other countries too, who have experienced so many problems with Primus/New Call, it's beyond a joke. (I wish I'd found all these sooner!) Someone really needs to put a stop to them.0 -
any of you knowledgeable people here able to advise me, please? i have my line rental with BT but make my calls through Sky which i pay for, (except the free evening and weekend calls). i want things to stay as they are, but wondered if i would be penalised in any way by either BT or Sky (both?) if i paid the BT line rental up front for 1 year which i believe is about £129? anyone else doing/done this? any problems experienced?
TIA people0 -
You say you make calls through Sky but can you force any to go through BT ? If not you will pay extra per month.
BT Line rental saver
There’s a minimum call requirement for this product. This means you have to make at least 2 landline calls per month or 6 per quarter, depending on how often you're billed. If you don’t make these calls you’ll be charged £1.50 per month/£4.50 per quarter0 -
as far as i am aware, all calls go through Sky, although i do use 18185 when forced to make a landline daytime call. i dont know of any option for forcing any calls through BT. if i stop using Sky for calls, i have to pay more for my Sky broadband, which i dont want to do.0

In addition to 18185 there's also 18866 which I use. Same service by the same provider, Finarea SA, which I've been using for a while. After registering and receiving the confirmation email, dial 18866 immediately followed by the phone number and it's 5p per call connection fee and £0.00p per minute for U.K. calls from a BT landline.
But beware, if it all goes wrong there's is no contact address, no email address and no phone number for the provider except a web form at www.finarea.ch. So I advise using a credit card for the monthly bill so you at least have some protection. This applies to both 18185 and 18866.

My elderly parents want to move from BT to a cheaper supplier, possibly Primus. They both have mobile phones but are not on contract so I assume the Primus Home Phone Saver ant £9.19 per month is the one for them. They do use override providers through the day.
Can someone please explain the Minimum Call Charge - 12.90p - is a one off charge and applies to all non-inclusive landline calls. 12.90 pence is a one off charge and applies to all UK mobile calls. Call charges will be rounded up to the nearest full minute.
They currently have caller display with BT (as it is a free service) but it costs £2.50 per month with Primus. Will they be put on a like-for-like service with Primus? Do they have to inform Primus that they don't want this or any of the other chargable services?0
