Just found out that our bradband charges are also increasing from £28pm to £29.60...would that make a difference?
    Yes.

I had the email yesterday and my broadband is increasing too. Grounds for cancellation without penalty, I'd say.

  • Hello,
I have Post Office Broadband/Homephone package which comes with free voicemail(1571)
however, i had a previous cordlessphone with answer machine customisable which is brilliant:custom announcement, number of rings, and little light when there are messages.
with the Post Office Voicemail, i get absolutely none of it.
i come home, i have no idea if i have any messages, i don't know after how many rings the standard(rubbish) announcement kicks in so dunno whether to rush or not.
I know it's free but such a useless piece of crapp.
Anything can be done about it?
    Many thanks,
    Fabrice

Tell your line provider to switch the facility off so that your personal answering machine can take calls when you're out.

As a bonus, you will save you friends and family money when you do so!

I have called BT and asked them to remove 1571 service, they said they have removed it but its still there and my friends are still getting charged, is there any other way to get it removed

Remind them who is the customer and why their department is called customer services.

BT company representative offers the below link to a webmail form in such curcumstances (to get things sorted which should have been sorted but which haven't been).

    http://bt.custhelp.com/app/contact_email/c/4950

    Try that.

Why don't these companies give a clear plain English tariff for their various packages. I am presently with BT, paid one year in advance for line rental, Anytime Call Plan, (got 3 months free) and with o2 for Broadband @ £6.95 per month (very old deal with contract o2 mobile). I wanted to wrap all these into one package. BT will still let me have the £10 per month if I fork out £120 up front, but no deal on the Call Plan. I get caller diplay thrown in for this. Their BB is more expensive. I have tried all the comparison sites (all different) and telephoned several companies - none of them are clear on what is and what is not included. Can anyone point me at a good company with UK call centres, that include all of my items at a reasonable rate (Not Primus as I was one of the early customers for their BB and it was a nightmare). I do not need high speed BB (currently about 5.6 MB)
Any help appreciated but I need to do it beofre current offers expire on 3rd Dec.
I know this is a home phone thread but as it is now all offered together.................

Caller display is free with BT Privacy anyway - all you have to do is make 2 calls per month.

BT's Unlimited Anytime calls plan (even when it was £5/month - I think it's £4.90 or £4.70 now) is one of the best value calls plans around now that it includes 0845 and 0870 calls too.

Are you sure you're not about to cut off your nose to spite your face? What you have appears pretty good value. £10/month line rental, £6.95/month broadband and £4.90/month calls plan.

If you just make use of 18185 where appropriate, I don't think you'll be able to reduce your costs by much more.

Heinz, you are probably right, I was just hoping to get a much lower price for the all-in package.
o2 offered me a 1 year deal for BB, line rental & anytime calls (6 months BB at half price) that evens out at £17.25 per month, plus £1.78 pm for caller display, total £19.03 pm. plusnet came in (for the same package) at £19.54 have not checked yet if that includes caller display. These are for the basic BB packages, but as I don't do gaming or much downloading of films etc. it should be fine. My present costs are £21.65 pm. so I'll think about the O2 deal. but for £2 per month is probably not worth the hassle ! What is your opinion of the SKY package as I am already a SKY customer ?

My daughter now has Sky TV, broadband, line rental and Unlimited Anytime calls.

When it works, it's fine (although she rarely gets more than 2MB because of her distance from the exchange). Caller Display has never worked and she's given up on that now.

There's not a lot else to say really. The value is excellent but it has to be because you're well and truly on the hook.
