Was that £8.54 a month including rental ? I want to be pre-armed with info before I make the phone call to BT.
My parents BT unlimited E+W comes up for renewal on 23rd March and BT have already charged for it for next quarter but not applied the associated discount to make it free.
I too was looking at Primus. Need a package that allows overrides to make cheaper calls abroad( currently use an 0844) and also need cheaper calls to mobiles.
edit : arrgh just read on another post that BT requires 30 days notice not to renew ? is that correct ? not sure if parents received letter about renewal
Its not 30 days notice its a 30 day period you have to cancel without charge if you do not want to renew the contract
Theres a better deal available its free evening and weekends with extra £1.00 off plus £3.00 line rental discount. makes it £7.54 a month.
The £3.00 is given as £36.00 credit and you must have paper free billing. so actual monthly charge is £10.54 but the extra £36.00 makes it an average of £7.54 over the year.
Number to call to get it is 0800800030 opt 1.0 -

The number you have given is for BT Total Broadband, cancelling contract or MAC code etc. No home phone deals here !!"0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0 -

Its the same dept for broadband cancellations and line cancellations. Ignore what it says on the options menu just press option 1 (the one that says to request a MAC and you will be connected to the customer options team who deal with broadband AND lines.0 -
didn't really matter which phone number i dialled to get through to customer options the answer would be the same
when I said 'not sure I wanted to continue with free evening and weekend as will be disadvantaged due to the time change, I'm looking at alternatives, what is your best offer ?' - all they could offer was to pay an extra £3.99 to go on anytime deal. This is for a customer with over 50 years custom with BT.
edit: just read elsewhere that anytime is £4.99 so it looks like she was offering a discount0 -
I think the cheapest home phones article needs updating
it says Primus is a 12mth contract but Primus website says 18mth0 -
Hi Derrick / Heinz
When I spoke to BT, they specifically quoted that from 1st April the 'weekend' window for free calls began at 7pm on Friday, and ended on MIDNIGHT on Sunday. Whether, technically, it ends at 7am on Monday I'm not sure, but I took it to mean it literally ended on the Sunday midnight.
@Elektra: yes, the £8.54 included line rental and VAT

Yes, but whoever you spoke to at BT may have been wrong, (it has been known:D), as you included the evening plan in your post, and the evening plan includes mornings, ( therefore a bit of an oxymoron), up to 7 a.m, (from April), it stands to reason that as midnight to 7 a.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday,Friday are included,(not free), then Sunday midnight to Monday 7 a.m will be included.
The person you spoke to does seem a bit confused as the "weekend plan" is from midnight Friday to midnight Sunday, so to include Friday from 7 p.m. is including the "evening plan" so my comments must be correct?

Sorry if this question has been asked loads b4, but if I just need a phoneline to have Sky television, and make no calls from the phone itself, what's the cheapest monthly line rental i can get and does it have to be with BT?0

I have found that o2 will now be providing home phone and broadband from only £17 per month and the best thing is they have call centers are in the UK so unlike all others, o2 are comited in providing employment in the UK.
I think we should all support O2 home phone and broadband and signup today and stop paying all the others that have call centers in India like these ones at home page of this site they all have call centers in India and we have so many people that need jobs in the UK so please support O2 home phone and broadband by signing up today broadband.o2.co.uk/telesales/homephone/broadband.jsp I have.0 -
I just found that too. So for an existing customer (which I am)..
£9.50 for the phone line
£10 for the Premium Broadband (Pro is more or less the same but with a better wirless router, which for most of us won't notice the difference)
Totalling £19.50 per month.
That's not too bad, its very competitive.0
