by the way you cant rely on what people say and one person may well have only been searched at experian but another might be searched for the same credit card at experian, there seems to be no rules especially with mbna who do what they want
Hi xgingerx
Thanks for your post
I do agree with what you say here, and must say that the info in this thread is purely a guide and is by no means guaranteed accurate.
If one person says ABC bank searched only Experian and another says they searched only Equifax I will add both to that entry so that people can be aware that they may search either or both.

Hi misscutiepie
I wouldn't get hung up on credit reference agency credit scores, they are purely a money making exercise for Equifax / Experian / Call Credit. Each lender has their own criteria and will score you differently.
The only way to improve your credit record is to run a few accounts (bank account, credit card, mobile phone, catalogue etc) responsibly for at least a year, you'll then be scored more highly.
Theres loads of factors which make up a credit score - and your historical ability to run credit accounts is one of them.
Also things to consider: are you on the electoral roll? how long have you been are your current address? do you have missed payments, defaults or ccjs?
Regards

just about to be added to the electoral roll, been here 8 months now I haven't missed payments although my credit file says i have. I have one default registered feb last year which i never received the default notice so i have lodged a complaint. But even with my default i have a better credit score!!Official DFW Nerd number 227

There used to be a table showing which banks used which credit reference agency. I have been hunting for this but cant seem to find it, can anyonehelp with a link. I think it was on the main credit card tab but seems to have disappeared, or amI missing it? Thanks0

This is why I created this thread!!! Just go to page one to see an extensive list of financial organisations along with which agency MSE'ers have reported that they use.
The table you're talking about is out of date and not completely accurate.

I'm confused. In my experience, Natwest ONLY search Equifax for current accounts. When do they search Experian?0
