Your gas and electric seem high, do you have arrears? If not, can you shop around and go to a cheaper provider?

Until you get back on the straight and narrow you can't really afford to spend £75 per month on holidays and presents.

You should be able to cut that grocery budget as well, have a look on the old style board for tips.

Well done for posting and try not to worry too much. You must make sure you stick to any payment plan that they come up with for your mortgage arrears though or there is a real chance that they will reposses your house.

Right I have added some comments in red - now looking at this SOA something is amiss... why did you miss the mortgage repayments so many times? What happened that caused this?

Thanks...I can see what you mean. My gas and electric are key/card meters because of arrears. Clothing is mostly for uniforms schools shoes etc, but i can definately cut down. I had a vets bill for £400 for my cat, I didn't have insurance. The holiday fund is for a bit of spending money, my Mum is paying for us to go. She has no idea about my financial difficulty. I really am no good at discussing my problems with anyone to be honest, which is why i get into such a mess. I have definately taken on board and can now see where i can cut down. Tomorrow i will draw up a plan for myself, with all of your help.

  • Jules, it can be fixed honestly it can. just hang in there, sleep tonight and come back here tomorrow and everyone will help

Well electric can be reducedfor definite :) Just wait - you'll turn into scary person who mutters "bl00dy blackpool illuminations" under their breath as they walk round like the rest of us ;) Once you've cleared those arrears then you might wanna look at something like E-On which has a plan where you get a free meter thingy that shows you how much electricity you're using and what it's costing you. It's been an eye opener for us! I never realised it but our prime offenders are our spotlights which are in both bathrooms and the kitchen. Blooming Halogen! Now I have to go and buy LED ones gradually as they are MUCH cheaper to run - sadly cost more that twice as much to buy!!!
Let us know how it goes tomorrow when you speak to CCCS/CAB etc :)

I have to be honest - as i now opening up a bit. I should have done this ages ago. I needed to borrow £4000 3 years ago from my dad as the bailliffs were knocking. I have been repaying him at £200 a month (he took out a loan for me) that is finished now. Earlier this year my tax credits were reduced by £120 a month - this has now just gone up by £60pm. I have also increased my working hours in the last few months, so my wages are now a bit higher. I am really trying, and i will now try even harder.

It is helping and is so much appreciated - thanks

You've got Mrs Tine looking after you, and Beanie has also given you good advice. Nothing else I can say, except, a spending diary would be a good idea, specially cos you don't seem to quite know how come you're in debt. So the best antidote to that is knowledge - best of luck with it, and I do hope you manage to get some sleep tonight. It *can* be sortable, especialy with the numbers you've got there. Good luck.

Would he be willing to take out another loan to cover your arrears if we can get your SOA sorted?
That might stop the procedings and allow you time to get on the straight and narrow again.
I WOULD however start being honest with him and your mum though... Tell them about the situation you're in and ask for their moral support - I'm sure they'll amaze you!
As for school uniforms - does the kids school have a swap shop thing at all?
