To cook a joint of beef in it and still keep it moist/non shoe leather like, would it work by wrapping the joint in foil?

Does pork cook well in one... do you still get proper crackling? I ♥ crackling.

Yes you get proper crackling! :j
I hate it but hubby was chuffed to bits with it! :T

I am finally taking the plunge and getting a Remoska Grand. I emailed Lakeland to ask if I could buy one at the Summer catalogue price (as suggested on MSE) and had an email back saying I could but I need the code from the summer catalogue.
    Can anyone help?
  • Hi Piquant! Welcome to the thread! of course you can join in, the more the merrier!

Hi Newleaf, thanks for the cake tips, I was wondering about doing this years xmas cake but they usually need long, slow cooking, this recipe could work with a few tweaks...

Hi Blunderwoman, welcome to the thread, did you do the almond cake out of the recipe book?

Hi 1carminestocky, as far as i know there isn't a separator pan for the remoska but others on this thread have found ovenproof containers that fit inside the pan so you can cook 2 things at once.

Hi Pennypincher, How about roasting the veggies in the pan and put the chicken legs on the top of them if you haven't got a rack? The meat juices will add a lovely flavour to the veg.

For lunch today I did a lovely frittata, I cooked some chopped red onion in olive oil and added some leftover boiled new potatoes and about 1/3rd red pepper and some mushrooms. When this had cooked for about 10-15 mins I added 4 beaten eggs, butter and peas, I also plopped some lumps of cheese that was lurking in the fridge! It was very nice and we ate the lot!

Tonight I am going to do a risotto and have some courgettes, sweetcorn, peas, pepper, bacon and some interesting looking Egyptian rice that I got from the asian supermarket (BTW translated instructions are a wheeze 'place rice in a large bowel..') I was going to do stuffed peppers too but its too much rice/couscous so a nice big bowel (!) of risotto will do nicely!

Hi there, as originally posted by periwinkle here is the catalogue link http://www.lakeland.co.uk/browsebycatalogue?c=08_ootk grand remoska 7669 at £99.99 as far as I know the price goes up on 31st August. Its the 'out of the kitchen' catalogue on p.48. If they ask the front cover has a spotted bowl of salad on it!

  • oooh, just had a look at the new catalogue and the code is the same! What is the salesperson on about then? Do you think they are trying to put people off ordering it at the old price because they have had so many orders (because of this thread)?
Check out the catalogue link and have it on your screen when you ring if they ask any questions, I know they have asked previous posters what was on certain pages...let us know how you get on...

A large bowel - ahh, if only I'd bought the bigger Remoska :rotfl:

Thanks for the best laugh I've had today, Desperate Housewife!

I ordered one on Monday and the girl was lovely. I explained a friend had ordered a standard one at the old price and she was happy to do that for me. It was out of stock however and will be posted (free) next week sometime. I also ordered a rack and magic liner and offered to wait for them at the same time but she insisted that they will come tomorrow. I also got a free melamime utensil set.

I too spent ages thinking about ordering. The price hike news on Friday re gas/electric made my mind up for me.

Many thanks to everyone for taking the time and effort to post on this.

    Hiya!

Would they roast OK and crisp up and could I put the spuds in too with the veg? I am such a novice:D

  • Hi Pennypincher, I'm not sure as I haven't done this yet in mine but i'm sure someone will be along soon who has! I did lamb chops on the rack and they were nice, not soggy or anything, the whole roast chicken I did came out lovely so I reckon you won't go far wrong if you go along with this method, spuds should be fine too.

I have done roast veg, pots and chicken in mine before I bought the rack. I put the veg and pots on the bottom and chicken on top so that the chicken juices ran into the veg/pots. The pots were not as crisp as done in the oven but maybe I should have either cooked them for longer or cut them smaller. They were cooked, not crispy but very tasty. I used the same amount of oil that I would normally use for the veg/pots in the oven but because of the juices from the chicken, I probably used too much (even though it was a very small amount). Next time, I might not use any oil and rely on the chicken juices.
