    Hi everyone

I am new to this thread and wondered if I could join? You seem such a friendly bunch! I do have the necessary equipment, a standard Remoska!!

I have to admit I've been a bit hit and miss with it, had a simply horrid chickpea curry, but wonderful roast potatoes. I've been reading your thread and picking up hints and tips from you all. I think I need to get the shallow pan after payday.

Going to have an experiment in mine in a bit! I always used to make oh scotch eggs and bake them in the oven, haven't made them for years and years so going to give them a go in the moski! Will also be using sosmix instead of sausage meat, mainly cos I've got loads of packs from when Asda sold it all off a few months ago, and also cos I read about someone using it for scotch eggs on old style a few days ago! Will report back!

Did more rolls yesterday and then meatballs later for dinner, kids loved them!

Thanks for the cake recipe newleaf I wonder if it would pass for a xmas cake if you chucked a few nuts in?

It's a fairly light fruitcake, of an 'everyday lunchbox' sort. If making it for Christmas I'd probably use more dried fruit, and also put some treacle and spice in, - but then I suppose it becomes a different cake altogether! (and less moneysaving)
As it happens, I never got round to icing last year's Christmas cake and it's maturing nicely in the tin, so I don't need to make one this year

  • I've been reading through the whole thread for inspiration while I wait 'patiently' (yeah right:rotfl: )for my grand to arrive. Sooo excited.
Wow - to get one from freecycle is amazing, ditto £2 from a charity shop:T .
I've just got rid of my popcorn maker on freecycle to make room for the moski, and will probably send the foreman grill the same way - was very useful but since I got more frugal I don't buy chops anymore and I think they were the main thing I cooked on it in the end.
I love the idea you can cook rice with a curry - I think form reading all your posts i tis going to revolutionise the way I cook, and I've already made a lot of changes this year. Cooking potato peelings is a brilliant suggestion:T .
Thank you to all who mentioned the Sept 1st price rise - this really pushed me to make a decision. It's my birthday saturday, so I'm part paying for it with cash birthday gift from parents... I'm just killin time on here really til I can become a fully fledge moski owning member:rotfl: .
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once
  • My Remoska is absolutely brilliant and I've really got the bug! So far I've made 2 batches of flapjacks, 1 almond cake, sausage toad, frankfurter goulash, 2 lots of savoury rice, an apple crumble and a roast chicken with potatoes and parsnips.
  • Anyone know what I can use in my soon-to-be-delivered Grand Remoska insstead of the separator pan? I really like the idea of cooking curry and rice at the same time. TIA!

To cook a joint of beef in it and still keep it moist/non shoe leather like, would it work by wrapping the joint in foil?

Does pork cook well in one... do you still get proper crackling? I ♥ crackling.
    TOP MONEYSAVING TIP

Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!
  • Hi Guys!

I am hoping that my Grande Remoska will be delivered tomorrow:j :j :j :j ....I have got out the freezer some FR Chicken Thighs bought reduced a few weeks back and would like to cook them in the Remoska for my 1st meal:D ....what is the best way to cook them and for how long etc:confused: ...I will also do some roasties so that I can cook everything in there together without putting the main oven on. I havent bought a pan to put in it, so what should I use to seperate or can I cook together....will the spuds crisp ok?

I also have some carrots, onions and parsnips I could roast with them, would this be ok?

    Thanks everyone.

Well done to Trying-very-Trying and Oliveoyl. You must both be over the moon!

Crockpot - Have had a look at the recipe book and while it hasn't got a recipe for roast beef it does have one for roast leg of lamb. In the standard it is 1kg (1.5kg in the Grand) and it says to brush it with melted butter (25g or 50g in the grand) and place in a roasting bag or wrap well in foil. Roast for approx 1-1.5 hours in the Standard or 1.5-2 hours in the Grand. Maybe putting it in the roasting bag or foil would make it more succulent. HTH you.

Morganlefay and Shopndrop - hope you both have a good holiday and come back and tell us how you both got on.

I'm off to do something with Lamb Mince and whatever is in the fridge although the Lamb spiced with Apricot in the Recipe book sounds rather delish!
