Thanks MrsM, dare I ask you for your pastry recipe ? I am an old lady and quite a good cook but my pastry has always been DIRE. I do all the right things (cold hands, cold surfaces, don't overprocess, add all the liquid in one go etc etc)and have tried many different recipes but it either shrinks, or its tough and it never tastes nice. Yours sounds awfully nice ! And thanks for tips on using the divider thingie - will dust it down and try to love it !! :beer:0

The only two pastry things I have tried, were both not home made, I put in some lurking bought shop chicken pies, and some salmon en croute both not at all sucessfull the en croute pastry went chewy and horrible, the pies browned on the top but were soggy underneath.
I have had this problem and I think it is because the bottom of the pan is the last thing to get hot so the top crisps up first.
If you pre-heat the moska (put in a ramekin of water) for 15 mins you should find the pies cook properly!0 -

Thanks for this, I've already done the sweet mince pie recipe and its fantastic but I must try it for savoury pastry. I bet it would be nice as a top for a chicken and ham pie......0 -
I was wondering if anybody could help me?
After coming across the remoska on the Lakeland website a couple of weeks ago, I was very interested and did some research on this and other websites. As I am trying my best to cut back on fuel bills this looked ideal, so purchased a Grande.
However after the first time of using it the lid started to make a noise as if something was moving about inside. I continued using it and was very impressed and have made lots of lovely things. However I was a bit worried about the noise and contacted Lakeland who immediately said they would send out a replacement, which came last Friday. I used the new one and the same thing happened with this noise as if something is fallling about inside. I have used it all week but tonight when I put it on all the fuses have blow. Reset them and tried again but the same thing happened. This time when I rang Lakeland they hve said that this is quite a common thing and that I should put it in the airing cupboard to dry it out as moisture must have got into it, and then tighten up the screws on it. They would offer me a refund but said that is how they are and another one would be the same. Surely this doesn't sound right for a new one of only a week old.
Is everyone elses ok and does anyone else have to put it in the airing cupboard!! and does the lid make the noise??
I don't realy want a refund, but I don't feel to confident now it has blown the electrics. Can anyone help? I have it in the airing cupboard at the moment and am going to try it again in the morning.
Had to put my oven on tonight for the first time in two weeks. I have one of the energy moniters from Eon and the daily useage has dropped quite a bit since I haven't used my fan oven
Look forward to any replies that could help.

The slight rattle occurs because the heating element contains ceramic beads, according to the Hooray for Home Cooking website. I get this problem but it is not a vibrating sort of rattle, just a sort of clacking together of beads sound which fits with the website description, so this doesn't worry me too much.
The blowing of fuses is something that has frightened me too this week and I am now considering returning mine. It happened once before and blew the kitchen light circuit but it happened in daylight and I was able quicklY to flick the switch. This week it blew the main fuse when was alone in the house at night and I had to scramble aroUnd in the dark to find a torch. I think the main danger is when you cook something liquid for a long time, the air vents can't manage all the steam and condensation buiLDS up in the glass of the lid.
Haven't decided what to do yet0 -
I can here the ceramic beads if I tip the lid up but have never (touch wood) had a problem with the electrics blowing.0

I'm seriously condiering buying one of these but need to allay a few queries first - can't find answers in general thread....
are cooking times longer than in normal oven?
how easy is it to adapt traditional recipes and cook them in the remoska?
is the normal size one big enough or do you wish you bought the 'bigger one'?
is there an OS way to do without buying the extras and make do with things you had in the cupboard anyway?

The Remoska takes about 25 mins to come to full temp (around 190-200C). A gas or convection oven heats up more quickly so for items with a quick cooking time the Remoska takes a bit longer than usual. However, once it is hot it cooks things very quickly.

Well, it's just a small oven, cooking methods are the same as for a bigger oven, mostly.

I have had both, the standard one broke and I was then given a Grande. I prefer the grande as I can always use a smaller pan for smaller recipes but the large size is handy for a roast dinner. You do need a large available surface area though as need one space for the pan and another place to put the handle down safely.
is there an OS way to do without buying the extras and make do with things you had in the cupboard anyway?
If you read through the thread there are lots of ideas for using small dishes, tins and silicone bakeware. The rack is handy though and at £8.99 worth it imo.
