  • I bought my Remoska before Christmas and haven't used my oven since. I had my electric bill in last week and I have used less in this quarter than in the previous quarter and It's normally the highest quarter of the year.I also use my SC quite a bit as well.I am delighted with the Moski and only wished I had bought one sooner. As I live alone it seemed such a waste to have the oven on for just one thing for me I find I make more of an effort to cook in the evening as well and there is only one pan to wash up its a win-win situation for me
  • Hi there, are these similar to a halogen oven? I bought a flavorwave a few months ago and must say its the best piece of kit i have ever bought and use it always!

Can I make pancakes in the Remoska?

Not really. You need a hotplate and a heavy based pan to make good pancakes. The remoska heats up too slowly. It makes lovely yorkshire pud though which is the same recipe! :T

I think I'm going to get one. I put the oven on yesterday to warm up a small garlic bread. What a waste!!

I'd like to use it for camping too.. do you think the standard one is sufficient for home use (2 peeps) and suitable for camping?

    thanks

butterfly72 - myself and many others originally bought the Remoska for camping, and then found they used it in their homes all the time! We are 2 as well and the standard is fine for us. For camping, I use it in our camper van and it is fantastic - we can even have jacket potatoes with our barbecue...... for a caravan or a tent it would work just as well, great for one-pot meals, cooked breakfasts etc. Right now I have chicken legs and potatoes cooking in it.

Ok, so I think the standard is the one!!

Now, my only problem is these pans... shallow and deep. I'm a bit confused about them. Whats the purpose of them? Can you cook directly in the ramoska or do I need a pan. Which is the most useful and how do you get them out of the ramoska when its hot (it doesn't seem to have a handle)?

One final thing: is lakeland listed on any cashback sites??

    thanks!

  • I cook stuff directly in the moski with no trouble at all.I did some lamb chops last week and they were delicious and only on pan to wash up instead of a huge great oven to clean

The Remoska comes with a deep pan but you can buy a shallow pan. You can cook everything in the deep pan, but the idea of the shallow pan is that its not as deep therefore food is nearer the top, food cooks quicker, ideal for things like pizza, sausages, oven chips. You can get around this without buying the shallow pan by raising the food up using upturned dishes etc. or by buying the rack. This is what I did when I first bought my Remoska to cut down the cost.

After a few months I did buy a shallow pan and wouldn't be without it now. (Had it as a Christmas present lol)

Most of the time I put the food straight in the Remoska although as I have the grande occasionally I pop a dish in there if I'm cooking a couple of things.

I use a spoon or spatual to take food out of the pan, or use an oven glove to hold on to it if I need to.

I may be wrong but don't think lakeland is listed on any cashback sites.

I bought a Remoska in August 08 and I absolutely love it and I use it on a daily basis but lots of the 'non-stick' round the rim of the lid has come off. I have always been really careful with it, and I know others have had similar problems, but I wondered if I should phone Lakeland, or take it back before it gets even worse, or whether it would be classed as 'normal wear and tear'.
  • Hi linni, I would take it back and get a new one, it is covered by their guarantee.
