Remoska cookers (merged)

Cooking "sweet" things is my absolute favourite, although everything is good in the Moska puddings and cakes have to be my favourite.0

Mine has a rattle too. It seems to rattle more when it is hot. Just been and given it a shake now and it is not too bad when cold but does still rattle. I have been using it almost every day since I got it in August and never had any problems with it though. Now I am wondering if I should give Lakeland a call. I think westcountrymaid's description of the rattle as sounding like dried rice inside is exactly what mine sounds like but don't know whether to contact Lakeland as I haven't had any other problems.
With regards to the coffee fudge pudding, reheated the other half in the microwave tonight but the sauce had evaporated into the sponge. Just poured some fresh cream on it though. It was still good to eat but not for the waistline!
MrsM "hmm I fancy something sweet" next thing I know Im sat on the sofa waiting for the latest batch of coconut buns, scones etc to come out of the remoska-please tell me its not just me
.... - no its not just you. I do this too.
I also do my jacket pots without oil. They are always fluffy inside with crunchy skin.
My DH just came in and I told him about it, he's told me to stop shaking the lid and that it sounds fine, as its working ok and to be honest I wouldn't have known it had a rattle, I think I'll leave it for now unless it gets worse at least with Lakeland you know they will sort out any problems. Mine is a Grand.0 -
Just to report that my Chicken & Butternut Squash Rissotto was absolutely delicious - hardly got any as DH and DS demolished it so quickly. Cooked some chicken breasts in a little white wine in the remoska in my shallow pan. Removed that pan and put in the deep pan and heated a little oil and added a finely chopped onion and put the lid on for a few minutes. Added some chopped mushroom and 1.5 US cups of rice and stirred it around. Added a US cup each of wine, chicken stock, water. Let it cook until a lot of the liquid had been absorbed and then added the cubed cooked chicken and cooked butternut squash along with some grated parmesan and heated through. Just before serving added a couple of teaspoons of creme fraiche. Fabulous. Sounds a bit of a faff, but it was really easy to do.0

I don't wish to crash the party with buckets of cold water, but FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY, this is NONSENSE.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, should anyone take apart ANY electrical appliance, unless a qualified electrician (which is why everything now all come with a fitted three pin plug! Ever thought why?). It should be returned to the retailer for a refund/replacement. In this case Lakeland, who have a no quibble return/replacement guarantee. What's the problem... return it!
DONT BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ ON WEBSITES. I can't believe Lakleand's official line is "oh just take it apart yourself..." c'mon.. Why do they have a return policy?! Have you actually spoken to them or taken all this at/on second hand web nonsense?
I was surprised too, but I posted because this is Lakeland's official line - it is the Lakeland response to a review on their own website. Not to say it isn't still nonsense, but it is their official line. I wouldn't dream of writing 'second hand nonsense' or anything that I believed would put other users at risk.
And the point of my post was to say that Lakeland will always refund if that's what you want - they just can't overcome every design fault in their stock catalogue so consumers have to decide for themselves when to draw the line.0 -

YES, because millions of people were perfectly capable of changing a plug, but a few numpties weren't so we all have to pay extra just to protect these numpties.
There are millions of people in this country perfectly capable of making minor repairs to electrical items, rewiring houses, cars etc. who have had no formal training or hold no qualifications.
Health and Safety gone mad if you ask me!
Next you will be saying "Don't cook food unless you are a qualified chef"!!!!
In this case I would say send it back to Lakeland. Not because I think you are not capable of spotting a loose wire and fixing it, but because you will get a new one.0 -
The rattle is probably the Ceramic Beads that surround the heating element in the lid.
Probably safe enough, but for what Lakeland charge for them in relation to the probable manufacturing cost I would get it replaced.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -

Tempting though it might be to settle for this one, I would suggest that you get a further replacement from Lakeland. You need to know that it is alright.
That said, their gaurantee is wonderful. I wrote to them a while ago about the quality of the non stick surface and they wrote back to say that there is a lifetime gaurantee on these and that if at any time I was concerned about the pan, they would replace it. They are wonderful to deal with and I am sure they want you to be as happy with your Moska as most of us on here are.
Stick with it PawpurrsThank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend0 -
Yesterdays adventures in remoska land involved a lamb hotpot, it was highly rated by the kids. I find lamb has a very strong taste when cooked slowly and it's not for me, but empty plates with no left overs from them is always a good sign. The sauce cooked down perfectly enough moisture to make it all sticky, and potatoes soft, yet crispy on top.DC.

i have spent ages reading this thread! still got 70 pages to get through!
Do you think you can cook pasta in the remoska?"Finish each day And be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and Absurdities have crept in.
Forget them as soon as you can."
