The Lakekand guarantee is that if you are unhappy with any product at any time you can get your money back so if you want a refund you will get one and they will arrange collection. They guarantee good customer service - what they can't do (and this is obvious from reading the responses to the Remoska reviews on the website) is guarantee that they can fix all the problems and ultimately you have to decide whether the pros outweigh the cons.

A few of us here have experienced the shorting of our electrical circuits and Lakeland's advice has been that this can happen if moisture gets into the lid.

    On the website here:

    http://www.lakeland.co.uk/standard-remoska!REG-electric-cooker/F/C/cooking-baking/C/cooking-baking-pots-pans/C/pots-pans-remoska/product/2511

it says (third review down as of today):

Sometimes the moisture might get into the lid. We suggest to unscrew the screws on the lid and leave it to dry out for few days properly before using it again. Try to keep the lid in cool and dry place.

Personally I'd probably get a refund if mine kept tripping the circuit as I don't think it is worth the hassle of unscrewing things and leaving it for days on end... but so far it has only happened once so I'm keeping mine.

Sorry, I've been a while, only just got rid of the guys in the dark suits and shades...

Hey, guess what 'the official Lakeland line' is no longer on their website! (as referenced here).

The simple message is please don't mess with your electrical equipment and I wouldn't take a Remoska apart and dry it out... request a replacement. Easy really.

    Now, where's that photon phaser...:rotfl:
  • I rang Lakeland yesterday because my Remoska has started tripping the electrics far too frequently. A short conversation about condensation took place but I was very soon offered a replacement.

I don't have to send the old one back until the new one comes, when I can use the packaging the new one comes in and they will come and collect the old one.

    What brilliant, brilliant service:T :T :T

Is there an echo? If you have a problem with your Remoska...simply request a replacement. Easy really... don't start taking it apart.
  • Wondered about starting 'a thread' about the pros and cons. What's good, what's bad.

Everyone can add to the list and/or repeat perhaps...

    i.e
    Bad
    Looks awful
    Costs too much

    Good
    It works
I eat better food (because I cook more with fresh ingredients, make my own bread etc because it is so much more convenient than 'the big oven').
  • A disaster to report - don't try a cake in a shallow pan. I decided to try it as I had bread proving in the deep pan. A big mistake!

    Tim_L ....OUCH!!!! Poor you.

Organic Babe - what was your disaster with the shallow pan? I have used the shallow pan for brownies with great success. Suspect though that a deeper cake might burn before it cooked through?
Thank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend

Good : It works : But it cost a great deal for what it must cost to make.

Asda were selling a Pop up Toaster last Friday for under four pounds and there must be more cost in making that than what there is in making a Remoska.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
  • Muppet81 - it was a banana cake (which usually turns out perfectly). As soon as I poured it into the shallow tin I thought that it would be a disaster but went ahead anyway. Thinking it would be safe to leave for 10 minutes, I answered the door to a delivery man and by the time I checked it had burned all around the sides and, obviously, wasn't cooked through. I then covered it for the remaining cooking time. I have now cut all the burned bits off and it looks so sad. Would be OK with custard but my lot don't eat it. It was meant for the lunchboxes but I think I'll have to come up with some way of disguising the worst of it - I just can't bear to throw it out.

By the way - can anyone give me the Flapjack recipe (referred to above by Mrs. M)? I'm sure a couple of other people have also mentioned how good it is.
