by the way, just in case any of you were wondering, i did attempt the irish stew in the remoska and it was actually really good, i put a bit of extra liquid in and took the lid off every now and then to give it a stir which probably knocked the temperature down each time but came out really well, the meat was lovely and tender!

I have just used my Baby Moska for the first time. Nothing exotic, just heated up some leftover vegetable bake with a veggie sausage and some tomatoes.

25 mins and it was all heated/cooked to perfection. Such a cute little device.
I did have to resist the urge to keep lifting the lid due to there not being a glass panel in the top but apart from that .... thrilled :j

The amount I put in by the way would have fed 2 people .... I was just being very greedy :o

I think my little "Mimi Me" Moska will be a great addition to the standard I have had for some time. Perfect for my solo lunches and only 300w
Thank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend

Thanks for that, as you have said it would be okay for two as well think I will get one for camping as space is such a premium and it looks quite a bit smaller that the standard.

  • Just a quick update - made the Apple Cake and it was delicious (shame I only have a few apples left on the tree!). I have also started making Mrs. M.'s version of the bread - only I just make it as the one big round boule. Not the best shape for sandwiches but I'll make do as it must be saving me a fortune not making it in an otherwise empty oven! I have twice now made my rice in the remoska and will never go back to doing it any other way. In fact I have some left over butternut squash and thought I might go about trying to use it in the remoska, with some rice, to make a rissotto. Any ideas on how I should go about it? I thought I would cook some onion in some butter, then add the rice and some stock, and when it is almost done add the cooked butternut squash, along with some sage, and maybe some leftover chicken. What do you think?

I make a rice dish like this at least once a week in my Remoska. I normally do it when I have some leftover cooked veg and meat to use up!

I just put in 1 cup of rice (I use basmati but only because I have a 5kg sack of it:o), 2 cups of waterand all the leftover veg and meat chopped up. Give it a stir and add few shakes of soya sauce. Put on the lid, switch on and leave it to cook for around 30 mins (depends on how much you make really).
When ready to serve give it a stir, add a little more soya and I then toss in some parmeson flakes(not the powder) which I find finishes it off nicely.

This makes loads for 4 people and enough left over for lunch the next day. Of course when reheating rice it is vitally important to ensure it its piping hot! My daughter works at a school and loves our rice nights as she always takes the leftover to lunch the next day and microwaves it in the staff room!

Not really a risotto but still very nice, quick and easy to make!
    Hope that helps

  • retiredlady - thanks I'll give that a go tomorrow. The remoska I have been using belonged to my sister, who never used it and said that I could give it a try (after months of me pestering her!). She has now agreed that I can keep it and I will give her something in exchange so we are both happy!
  • Made a cottage pie last night, only thing is I didn't make enough mash !

I can't read through the whole thread again but I seem to remember someone mentioning that their Remoska sometimes tripped out their electricity. Ours did that this morning whilst DH was trying to clean the lid! He had just switched it on to warm it up for a minute (!) and trying to clean it when pfft.. all the electricity went off.

I didn't know whether to ring Lakeland to ask about the marks on the lid anyway which are getting worse and to mention about this problem.

I am nervous if it happens again as it caused chaos with all the clocks going off and our phone doesn't work when the electricity is off and I was waiting for the doctor to ring just at that moment.
