  • I've 'borrowed' a standard Remoska for a week from my aunt to see if I'd like to get one, the trouble is she's taking it back tomorrow :(. Really don't want to see it go. I've cooked lamb cutlets on a bed of roasted veg and sliced potatoes, Roast chicken breast joint and roast potatoes with veg and tonight I've cooked salmon cutlets, cabbage and leeks in foil parcel with sliced potatoes and creme fraiche.

I did bacon, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and a 'fried egg' this morning. Best egg I've cooked in years (I'm not good at frying eggs the tradditional way OH says I can't fry an egg after 30 years married). Although the breakfast took longer it was nice to put it all in and carry on doing other things until it was ready.

Would love to have my own Remoska but can't afford it at the moment, will have to put it on my 'wish list'.

I agree - I hate frying eggs too and they are great in the remoska. Last weekend I ran low and only had two eggs between 3 of us, so I just beat them in a cup and chucked in among the rashers in the remoska - made for a slightly strange looking flat yellow egg but my DDs actually liked them better!

Bought my remoska this week and the first thing I did was baked potato's - really lovely and as good as the oven. I also did an extra and heated that up in the microwave the next night and it was still really nice :) Far better than normal microwaved potato's.

Definately quicker than our gas oven as well which seems to take at least 2 hours to bake pot's... the remoska took just over an hour for 3 decent size ones.

I am thinking about getting a Standard Remoska. I live on my own but do tend to batch cook and freeze. The only thing that I have a problem with turning oven on for is one solitary baked potato!!!...so I tend to do without, but I love them - so the remoska sounds like the answer to my problem.

My question is though, my oven is gas so is it still cheaper to use a Remoska than heat a gas oven?

I realise the Baby Remoska would be big enough for one baked potato, but if the Standard one is still cheaper than using my gas oven I would like to use it as much as possible in place of the oven.

I've got baked spuds in right now. I've done more than we'll need as I make potato cakes with the leftovers tomorrow, yum.:D

Mines sat with an apple crumble in it waiting to be switched on, can`t wait cos we`re having whipped cream with it.
I put lots of cinnamon in it too.

This is the first time i`ve made a crumble and it comes right to the top of the deep pan.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p
  • Bit worried about my remoska this evening. Steam seemed to be coming out around the switch and the handle was quite damp with condensation. It shorted the circuit too, though was fine when I reset the fusebox. Anyone seen this?

Still managed a lovely meal btw - roasted veg and a nice piece of salmon cooked above on the rack. We have surplus oranges this week so I squeezed an orange over it for seasoning and was very nice.

Last night I cooked cannelloni in moski, hm pasta sheets wrapped round chopped cooked sweet potato and onions, mixed with danish blue cheese (on special in Morrisons), covered with tomato sauce. It was delish!

:j :j just got one, picked one up second hand for £25. It took an hour to drive there but still cheaper than £89.99 from lakeland.

Going to make a fry up for lunch, sausages, bacon and eggs from the farm shop and a pseudo bubble and squeak leftover from yesterday. might throw in a tomato there as well.

ps-gairlochgal, my moska shorted the circuit too, but *fingers crossed* seems ok now

Although have only got the deep dish, think it should be with a shallow one.

Ours has 'shorted' a couple of times - it only does it when OH is using it for some reason . If it becomes a big problem I would ring Lakeland.

Just made the first roast chicken but it was a bit too soft at the bottom, is there any way of making the skin extra crispy? The potatoes were infused with the juices but it was just soft and not roasted, am I doing anything wrong? Or should I buy a rack?

Got a batch cook of a beef casserole in there going at the moment, along with the Panasonic :D
