I have just quartered a medium chicken and put it in the Remoska to see how it cooks.

Asked DD to look for a six spaced silicone muffin tin for me but she could not find one.

This morning I was looking at my 12 space silicone tin and realised all I had to do was cut it in half!!!!!!

One of the now six space muffin tins sits perfectly in my Grande Remoska!!:j

Thanks for your help Mrs M,

I have just rung to order a second seperator pan. Sadly they are out of stock till the 24th so I will have to be patient.

I had been reading your delivery traumas and am so pleased that when you finaly got your Moska(s) you are happy with them.

    Enjoy:j

Hello, Ive had my grand remoska for years, but could not afford to also buy the "extras" like shallow pans etc. It dawned on me a while ago that I could improvise with a frying pan (32cm for the grande). It sits on the same stand and works perfectly, plus I have an extra frying pan...ps I warm my plates up by balancing themon the top of the remoska lid.
  • I am thinking about getting a Standard Remoska. I live on my own but do tend to batch cook and freeze. The only thing that I have a problem with turning oven on for is one solitary baked potato!!!...so I tend to do without, but I love them - so the remoska sounds like the answer to my problem.

My question is though, my oven is gas so is it still cheaper to use a Remoska than heat a gas oven?

I realise the Baby Remoska would be big enough for one baked potato, but if the Standard one is still cheaper than using my gas oven I would like to use it as much as possible in place of the oven.

  • I have been dithering for months as to whether I 'needed' or just 'wanted' a remoska, as it was coming up to my b'day I decided it was definitley a 'need' so marched hubby to Lakeland to show him what he was buying me for my b'day. I didn't know if I should get the standard or grand, but allways being a 'bigger is better' person opted for the grand .There's only the two of us but when the children visit it will be big enough to cook a meal for four.But..... can tarts with a pastry bottom be cooked ok as I don't see how the underneath pastry can be, as the heat comes from the top and I don't want a soggy bottom! Also do cakes cook ok as again with the heat coming from the top I am wondering if the inside gets cooked ok ?

    HI jannyann,

i`ve never made a pie in the remoska yet but suspect all will be well.:D

I`ve made a few cakes and they have turned our great, i have the standard remmy and there are two of us, i do sometimes wish that i had bought the grand as i can only get a medium sized chicken squashed into it but i decided that as i wanted to save as much as possible i should get the smaller one as the wattage is less so the saving on energy is greater. I line the bottom and use it as a cake tin. You would be able to feed four from the standard but it would depend on what you were cooking, if in doubt go to one of the shops to have a look if you can.

I see that this is your first post so welcome

Alicatt - sorry but i`ve no idea how it would compare energy wise with a gas oven.

jennyan - I do a chicken pie in my standard Remoska. I do it in an 8inch cake tin which sits in the bottom of the pan. The underneath cooks beautifully. The same applies to scones cakes and bread.

Even though the element is in the lid, the heat is conducted through the whole Remoska. It gets very hot. I have baked several cakes and loaves of bread in mine and they have all cooked to perfection.

We've made pies and cakes in the Remoska and they come out great. We make scones about every other day as well - again, come out great.

Today we had a bit of sinful treats. I made scones with chocolate chips and chopped up glace cherries in them. And then we made lasagna that turned out wonderfully! Yummmmm!
