  • Baked apples or baked pears, stuffed with mincemeat and a little water in the base of the pan - are even better reheated the next day! They go caramelised and fab.
I've ordered a second deep pan (I have a standard moska) and a rack. This is so I can do main course then transfer lid to cook a fruit-based pudding in second pan. Yum. Great way to get one of my 5 a day! GQ xxx

GQ, I just had to thank you for this little tip. I have never baked apples before, but I did have a glut of them, and had stewed more than the freezer could cope with, so I tried your idea.

I used some of last years rtc mincemeat with brandy for stuffing the apples, and we had some organic rtc double cream to pour over.... mmmm delish:j

  • Has anyone noticed that there have been quite a few remoskas on ebay recently, and where before they were often going for above retail price, they have been quite a bit cheaper of late.
Could that be because now we all have one, or could it be because of the credit crunch:confused:

  • right posting this as my mum is offline, going to get her a remoska next month for her 60th:D and just wondered i lakeland the best place to get from?

do i get standard sized one, do i need to buy anything else for it?

going to delete this post before tomorrow, so she doesnt see it

princess pixiedust, you can only buy the moska from Lakeland, and no you don't need to buy anything else to get started, maybe let your mum give it a try and then decide which add ons she may find useful.

    Just a quick question....

Am i right inthinking that the remoska doesn't have a temperature control on it? So how can you cook something that needs a very high/low temperature in it?

    Hi Zziggi

We have been pondering the same thing too as it only has an on/off switch -no temp control  but it seems to cook everything to perfection :T

Fancied a really lazy meal last night. Something snacky but nice.

I had some tesco value part baked baguettes but these would not fit in my standard Moska. Using a bit of initiative I broke them in half and baked them that way. They turned out pretty well.

I also had one of those small round camembert cheeses which come in a wooden box. For some time now it has been growling at me when I opened the fridge door :D

I took the cheese out of its wax wrapper and popped it back into the wooden base - pushed a slither of garlic in the top of the rind and poped it into the Moska. Not sure how long it was in. I think it was about 15 to 20 mins.

When I rocked the Moska the cheese was really runny under its rind.

Lifted out carfully onto a plate and served witht he baguettes and some carrot and celery crudites.

It was lovely! Plenty for OH and myself.
Thank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend

oh muppet, you've made me feel hungry now, that's one of our fave snacks in the winter in front of the fire or in the summer out in the garden.

Did a huge banana and cinnamon cake today in a big springform tin, fits a treat and made me glad I turned out the cupboard! It cooked much more evenly and quickly than the oven, must be moski magic!

  • Mummysaver, do you have a recipe for that banana and cinnamon cake?
Today I have baked some of my almost black bananas with cinnamon and brown sugar, so that's another first for me, but I've got quite a few more bananas coming to need using up so I wouldn't mind trying a banana and cinnamon cake.
