Would the bigger of the Ramoska's be big enough to cook a meal for a family of 5 adults with big appetites?

    I'm wondering if it's an expense I don't need, as I already have a 6litre slow cooker.

I just hate my gas oven sooooo much - I have to cook everything on gas mark 8 or 9 and even then everything takes hours to cook. (It's had a new thermostat recently, so can't see the point of having another one, as it didn't fix it first time round.) So it's not just the running cost I'm looking at, but the Remoska's efficiency.

I've not read this entire thread, but I can see that some of you are lining, or using extra dishes inside the cooker. Is this strictly necessary, or is this just some clever notion that MSEers have come up with to ease cleaning or something?

I think the Grande would be suitable for you.

I have a SC 6.5ltr too but you have to remember that they are both completely different.

Slowcooker is for stews, soups, joints of meat that need slow cooking etc and the Remoska is more for things that you would cook in a general oven like Chicken, roasties, yorkies, pizza, chips, heating things through, wicked baked spuds, lasagnas etc etc. Crisps things up where the SC doesnt.

the remoska is also great for curries - chillies - casseroles - bread - cakes - anything your oven will do but better!!!!

    Afternoon all

Well, after much debate I have got some silicone muffin cups for the remoska :j I had eyed some up a while ago, but they were €6-€7 for 6.. but I got these for €2.99 for 6 -

    muffinwk5.th.jpg

so I couldn't resist really :p -I got 2 packs and can get 8 in the standard one at a time -should save a lot of waste and money on buying papers ;) now-which muffins to try first hmmmmm :D

Dinner tonight is belly pork and Home made stuffing done in the remoska -can't wait -its one of my faves when done in the oven -so Im expecting this to be even nicer -and no awful dish to get clean where the stuffin welds to the dish in the oven :T
right -off to get the bread out of r.e.m.e the remoska :p

Mrs M - I use my silicone cases all the time, I love them! Actually bought some more on Monday from M&S, eight red star shaped ones for £7, not the biggest bargain but they are quite thick so should keep their shape and make interesting muffins!

Today will be cauli and broccoli cheese in my moski, with sliced potatoes and onions layered underneath, will pop it in after I've cooked the sausages in it first.

My only criticism is the coating on the pan, I've got a lakeland jam maker and the coating on that is so much thicker, it'd be nice if they could do something about the moski ones too.

Hi all, I'm thinking of asking OH for a remoska for christmas.
My question is, will I use it?
I'm not sure if it's just one of those things that will end up sat at the back of the cupboard!
As you all rave about it, can you tell me what things you cook in it & why it is so good.

    Thank you :D x

annie - if you have a browse through this thread you'll soon see that you can cook just about anything in it! The only thing that seems to cause some issues is that chips take a long time to crisp for quite a few people.

It uses a lot less energy than a conventional oven, and keeps the moisture in the food, making things very succulent. I have used mine constantly since I bought it, for everything from rolls, cakes, crumbles, stew, curry, roast, chops, fish, roast veg, chilli, bacon and eggs, pizza to baked potatoes.

It's worth gettting a larger one than a smaller one I think, as you can always put another pot inside it, but you can never make it bigger iyswim!

Basically you can cook anything in it that can be cooked in the oven, and you only have one pan to clean!

    Hi Annie

If you get a remoska I can't see it being shoved to the back of the cupboard :p
I have had mine for nearly 4 weeks now and have not put my oven on once :j mum has had hers 8 weeks and has used her oven twice ;)

I have cooked allsorts in mine -and so far EVERYTHING has come out tasting better than when it was done in the oven.. bread, stews, chicken, roasties, crumbles

I have the standard as there are only 2 of us and its plenty big enough (although i have my free 2nd one if i get desperate :rotfl: )...
For me it makes me even more creative about what i cook - I have found that there is no need to make sauces etc in a pan(apart from cheese sauce) as mums recipe book seems to suggest -I saute n allsorts in mine

Pasta bakes etc are wonderful as you don't get that awful baked on dish that takes 3 days of soaking to get clean :p
