  • Peel and chop 4 large spuds into quarters and par-boil for 10 mins. Drain water and shake up a little. Whilst doing that spray shallow pan with oil and let it heat up. Spray with light Olive Oil (more suitable for frying/roasting) whilst still in the pan and move about so all covered.

Then place them in the Remoska and it should sizzle a little if the oil is hot enough. Every 15 mins turn them and after about 45 mins, they are PERFECT!!

Tonight I also added 4 Aunt Bessies in there and laid on top of the spuds and they crisped up perfect within 5mins.

    Congratulations zappster, great news.
  • congratulations on your new arrival zappster1966! I'm sure the remoska will come in handy!

I'm doing jacket spuds in my remoska today and will probably do a salad or tin of tuna or cheese and beans to go with it, not decided yet...

I'm intrigued by the Remoska but just wondering if it is another kitchen gadget to sit next to the slow cooker, kenwood mixer, doughnut maker.....

Isn't the remoska just a version of a slow cooker? Do any of you MSErs have both a slow cooker and a remoska but use them for different things?

Just how little power do they use to cook compared to an oven?

    Thanks

My standard remoska is about 470 watts, i can`t remember the exact wattage but it`s 470 or less.

I have both a remoska and a slow cooker and i use them both, the sc has just been put into action now that the colder weather is here and we shall be eating more soups, stews curries, shepherds pie etc, all things that do well in the sc.

The remoska i use for roasting making bread rolls baking etc. Basically anything that can be cooked in the big oven can be done in the remoska instead providing there is room. I `ve just made bread rolls and a cake today and later we shall be making our dinner in it too.

I did spend an awful lot of time thinking about it before buying the remoska but i am absolutely convinced that the decision i made was the best one, my big nasty electricity guzzling oven hasn`t been on once since i bought it. :D

Hi Zziggi, The remoska is not a slow cooker, it cooks like (or faster than) a normal oven. I have both sc and remoska and use them both for different things. The reason i bought one was to save on energy and it certainly does that, 450 watts as opposed to 2500 watts for an electric oven I have a gas oven though. The problem you will have is deciding which size to go for, I have a standard and it suits us 4 but lots of posters on here like their grand for 2-4 people.

BTW the energy saving is a bonus for me now, the taste is superb and I have doen cakes, roast chicken and allsorts. Try looking at the lakeland website and also hooray for home cooking for more info :)

I also have a Remoska and a slow cooker, and use both reguarly. I cook casseroles, soups etc in the slow cooker, and use the Remoska to cook meat, pies, cakes etc.

I also use the Remoska for heating ready meals when I come in from work - I set a timer to come on so that they are ready when we want to eat.

  • Hello 'Moska friends ! (and many congrats to the Zappsters) We got back from our hols in France with Moska and I have to say that she was a triumph. I didn't turn the horrible oven on once and we had soooooo many nice things to eat. I also discovered part-made choc cookies (which I now see you can get here too) They take 12 mins and come out of Moska all squidgy and delicious....oh dear. But you can only do 4 at a time which is better than a whole tray of them. Last night did some salmon fillets - put them straight on the magic mat (deep pan, Standard Moska with some lemon pepper on them )and half an hour later they were ready, all crisp skin unuderneath and very juicy and tasty. However I am now posting to say that I have been resisting for a long time now but tomorrow am off to Lakeland (have just discovered there's one at Bicester Village, arrrrgh, much too close) to buy one. I also thought I'd buy their silicone steaming basket thingie as it would surely be good for lifting dishes out of Moska...has anyone tried that ? (I plan to put the silicone thing on the bottom, then dish on top to cook and then just lift out by its handles. Will measure it tho. Happy cooking !!!
