  • The running costs of the Remoska is very easy to calculate on account of there being no thermostat so it basically runs at a constant 475/650 watts per hour (depending on if you have the Standard or Grand). This does make it more difficult to compare against a 3kwh leccy oven due to the fact the leccy oven will have a thermostat so the full 3kwh will not be in use all the time, if you see what I mean. My estimate of the comparison would be my Grand Remoska costs approx 65-70% less to use than my oven. I pay approx 10p per kwh (British Gas Click 5, Yorkshire region) so mine costs 6.5p per hour to run. In other words, I roasted a chicken and loads of roast potatoes in it a few days ago for a total cost of approx 10p!

HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??
  • Today I made Sausage & Potato Bake from the Moski cookbook and that went down well too and was so easy! :T
Thanks for the mention. I tried this today, slightly overcooked, I suppose it takes time to get used to judging the time, but delish.
  • Today in my remoska.....
I have cooked a lovely guinea fowl (I got cheap a while ago) Also roast spuds and parsnips (cooked other veg on cooker top) OH cooking some samosas that DD2 made today (got the recipe out of the moosewood cookbook so thanks to the poster that recommended it) The dough was quite different, flour and yoghurt mixed together and roll it out, cut circles and fill with spicy spuds and pease then bake) Got scones for afters.

I got a call from one of the Lakeland team yesterday she said that some light scratching is to be expected and nothing to worry about. Just to give them a call if it gets worse. She said the remoska is very popular...I wonder how many they have sold (come on Adrian, spill the beans!)

    Still loving it :)

I used my new (second hand) Remoska today to cook a small joint and roasted potatoes. The joint took less time to cook than when using the oven and everything was delicious. When meat was done I took it out and added stuffing balls to cook. Although I have been a little apprehensive about using it, am slowly becoming more confident.

I really enjoy reading the recipes that everyone has tried. This is a great thread and could revolutionise cooking in Britain.

    Rock on Remoska!
  • Great meals from the remoska this weekend. I did a roast chicken yesterday, an artisan loaf this morning and then for dinner chicken cacciatore from the leftovers. I saw it on Nigella Express and of course my version was even more express because I had cooked chicken. All very yum!

    Hi everyone,
today i cooked a half shoulder of lamb in my remmy, i put it on the rack which was turned upside down and was just enough to keep the meat off the bottom, i put enough water in to cover the bottom and lots of rosemary.

It only took just over an hour to cook and was the most delicious lamb ever!

I made hm kebabs with salad in garlic pitta for tea - gorgeous.

I think that the only time that i may use my oven in future is solely to make twinks hobnobs as i make so many but i`m even considering making them in smaller batches in the remmy.

My electricity consumption has dropped and i`m very very impressed.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p
  • Did roast pork again in mine yesterday and put marrow in the bottom to soak up the meat juices.

I am still getting used to the timing of things, seems to take a little longer than my oven but thats because I have a fan oven.

A friend popped round and noticed it, she had seen them in Lakeland but doesnt come on here so didnt know anyone who had one, she was worried about spending such a large amount of money but I think she will be getting one now.
  • Today in my remoska....

I am cooking another recipe out of the moosewood cookbook but adapted to what I have got in and of course done in the remoska! Make a potato crust out of grated potato, grated onion and egg white, press into the pan and cook for about 1/2 hour. In a frying pan saute onions, garlic, pepper, courgette and squash (thats what I've got in but their recipe calls for cauli) sprinkle grated cheese on the bottom of the crust and add sauteed veg, add more grated cheese and 2 eggs with a bit of milk, more cheese. Cook. Looking good and can't wait to eat it, it is lower in fat than pastry and a good way of getting more veggies eaten.

I love this thread! Really want to be eating three main meals a day so that I can try out all the recipes.

My replacement pan arrived today from Lakeland - superfast service. :T Included in the parcel was ... a Christmas catalogue!

I may be some time ...
  • Jeepers, your recipes are all so much more creative than mine ...

Need some advice, please. I kinda had a senior moment yesterday, decided to have a couple of eggs rolls and slapped the eggs into the Remoska & took Fido out for a quick walk. Met a neighbour, got chatting, into hers for a cup of tea and another. Totally forgot about the eggs ... I don't think it's beyond redemption but much of the eggs have been burnt black & are stuck solid.

I soaked the pan overnight with some fairy liquid but there's still a lot stuck on & I'm loathe to give it a good scrub in case I damage the Teflon *cough**LOL*

    Any suggestions ?
