  • I was still sitting on the fence about a Remoska purchase and thinking about other options after I posted an enquiry about Bravoska a couple of days ago - I came back today a bit dismayed at the Teflon problems .......... but then the users still recommend it as essential ??????? ......... this must be good .......... then in flies guardian angel Adrian from Lakeland LOL
I'm no longer on the fence - all through these postings everybody has said that Lakeland customer service is 2nd to none - I guess I'm now utterly convinced this venture is well worth the risk and I am taking the plunge. :)

you will not reget it - it is without doubt the best kitchen applinace i have ever bought (and ive bought a few as my credit card statements would tell you) and lakeland are one of the best suppliers ever!!
  • i had some staining on the top of my remoska lid from baked on splashes from other things cooking nearby (didn't realise it had been splashed until they baked on brown) and also what looked like water marks all over.

I remembered that i had a bottle of stainless steel cleaner lurking under the sink - a bit of that and a lot of elbow grease got them off.

I can now see that the rest of the lid has gone a bit of a copper colour as the newly cleaned bits are more silver than the rest! I doubt i would have noticed any disclouring if i hadn't had to really rub hard on some areas (like when you spot clean a carpet and then you end up with a pale patch rather than a dirty patch, lol).

  • Hi guys! just caught up with all the posts due to too much working, even though I've done loads of hours (did 19 1/2 the other day EEK!) but still used my remoska every day.

As regards the scratching, I have some slight scratches on mine despite using magic liner, washing up with a sponge (I never put it in the DW) and using plastic/melamine utensils. I think it is the actual food that is doing it y'know, I made some bread and turned it over to finish and the crusty bits on the bread scratched it a bit. Having said that it isn't bad and I can't be bothered to send it back, its not worth it to me. The lid isn't as shiny as it was when it first came but i think thats normal through usage. It isn't a worry. If Adrian is reading (thanks for dropping by :) ) it might be an idea to get them to make the pans out of the same material that they use for the separator pan as it seems better quality (if they are able to)

    Bottom line....I love my remoska!

I made another marmalade cake this week, veg bake in cheese sauce, dauphinoise potatoes (will put less milk in next time) with salmon steaks done on rack, very succulent and juicy. I am doing a chicken curry tonight with rice. I am still enjoying using it and all my family are happy and clean their plates! Energy usage is good, I read my meter every month and the electricity usage is the same, gas consumption down. I am now looking at ways to cut back even further and have contacted the council, they sent me some leaflets and listed the electricity usage of appliances, I felt quite smug that I use my remoska!

Hope everyone is still happy and enjoying it, despite ups and downs of returning things and the odd bit of scratching here and there, on the whole I am happy and wouldn't swap mine.

  • p.s. as regards the black stuff that comes off the lid i think that is the evaporating food drying on it, a quick wipe with a damp cloth and it came off for me.

Well! I phoned Lakeland this morning and told them about my slightly scratched pan, and they're sending me out a new one. Customer services couldn't have been nicer and offered a replacement immediately.

I'm so impressed with Lakeland :T so thank you Adrian and the team.

    Hi Desperate Housewife
I thought that to begin with but if it had been food evaporating and then drying it would have come off on a cloth as a "browny-black" mark. This was actually very small particles which made me think it was the teflon coating. The pan lid is now a lighter shade of black than it was so I think it has got to be the teflon.

Even with all that I still love it and wouldn't be without it. I'm glad you are still enjoying yours and just sorry the grande didn't work out for you.

    Happy remoskaing!

I have just rang Lakeland and they haven't had any reports of severe staining on the lid before so they are replacing the item as they think the lid might not be fitting the pan properly and I am to return the used one.

Lakelands costomer service is absolutely wonderful:T I am now tempted to buy the electric heated clothes airer which claims to only use 3p in electricity an hour, much better than a tumble drier (which I dont own) and better than draping wet clothes over radiators and clothes horses for days on end..........mmmmmm

I am also going to order a large roll of their kitchen foil (strong enough to use on a lunar pod) to put behind my radiators to deflect the heat back into the room.:D

Oh no  now I'm going to have to look at the airer! Much cheaper than using the tumble drying and an alternative during this rotten weather, so saying it's actually sunny today!

I love my moski, and yesterday did potatoes boulangere, then veg chilli. Today have got cottage pie in there at the mo, made rolls earlier and will be doing mini apple braids later for the kids lunch boxes next week.

Nice to see Adrian from Lakeland posting, how lovely to not only have good customer service when you phone them or visit the shops, but actually to have it offered to you :D I love Lakeland, and now I'm off to look at the airer! :o

  • Could you tell me how long a sausage takes to cook please? I want to cook jacket pots and sausage at the same time.
My rack arrived this morning so something else to play with now.

If Lakeland asked you what you would like produced to help you get more from your remoska what would it be? I'd like a silicone dish divided into 2 halves with a handle, a bit like the separator dish in a pressure cooker.
  • Flossie! That would be superb.

I rang Lakeland when I got mine to ask if it was possible to fit in 2 of the seperator pans side by side in the standard. A very helpful lady actually went away to check by physically trying them. She came back with the answer that they would not fit in.

A divided silicone dish with a handle would be wonderful.

    Are you listening Adrian :D:D:D:D
Thank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend
  • Hi Naseby, yes, you're right it sounds like metal, its a browny-black stuff that I sometims wipe off.

You guys have got me thinking about these scratches y'know, I've just emailed Lakeland about them (I feel bad ringing after the grand remoska debacle) so see what they say. Trouble is I don't want to be without it now while they replace it, I would rather keep it even though there are scratch marks on it.

Got a delish curry in there and just off to eat it in a mo...

(BTW has anyone got the heated airer? Is it worth getting?)
