I've also noticed some light scratch marks in my pans - and I don't have any metal cooking utensils, I use silicone ones. I don't even put mine in the dishwasher, I wash them by hand with a sponge.
Still love my Moski though, and will get one for my mum.

Sunnyday, I could have written this post myself! My pan has got some light scratches too, and I've no idea how they got there as like you, I line the pan every time I use it for baking and use my trusty plastic utensils and nothing else - no metal has ever been within 10 metres of my precious Remoska.

I can only agree with you about the Teflon, and as I've now also bought the shallow pan at  £26.99:eek: it's a bit of a concern. At these prices, I'd like to think the Teflon was going to last for a very long time, but at the current rate of deterioration (only had my Remoska a month or so) I can't see it happening.

    Hi ghp,
i`m getting rather annoyed now as i`ve been thinking to myself that i should have examined it closely when it was delivered instead of just washing and using it, i think i was a bit too eager.

I have just done a bit of an experiment, i ran my fingernail lightly along the remoska deep pan and i could see a slight scratch where my fingernail has been, i got my teflon coated frying pan out which is only a very cheap one that i`ve had for years and done the same - the frying pan has no mark on it! I then did the same with the remoska lid on the inside and there is no mark left there either so i suspect that the deep pan has an inferior teflon coating or that something has happened during the coating process that has made it substandard. I think that i shall drop Lakeland an email.

Bertiebots - I wouldn`t let this put you off buying one as i think that they are fantastic and i wouldn`t be without mine, i must just have a faulty one.

When you imagine how many have been sold recently and how many times that they are out of stock the company that makes them must be pushed to deliver and every so often with most things there are a faulty batch.

EDIT - it will have to wait as the website isn`t behaving itself lol when i search for remoska to get the item number it gives me tie top swing bin liners :rotfl:
Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

I have just rang Lakeland and they haven't had any reports of severe staining on the lid before so they are replacing the item as they think the lid might not be fitting the pan properly and I am to return the used one.

Lakelands costomer service is absolutely wonderful:T I am now tempted to buy the electric heated clothes airer which claims to only use 3p in electricity an hour, much better than a tumble drier (which I dont own) and better than draping wet clothes over radiators and clothes horses for days on end..........mmmmmm

I am also going to order a large roll of their kitchen foil (strong enough to use on a lunar pod) to put behind my radiators to deflect the heat back into the room.:D
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

It's interesting all this talk of the teflon coating. I have had my remoska since June and have used it every day since. I love it! But... I cooked a lamb casserole in it and put some foil over the mixture and cooked it for the best part of two hours. I kept adding liquid so it wouldn't dry out but when I went to wipe the lid at the end all this black stuff came off. It was horrible and to begin with I couldn't think what it was. I couldn't think that it was the casserole liquid sticking to the lid because I had the foil on top of it. Then it dawned on me that it was the teflon coating! Needless to say that the casserole went in the bin. In addition to that the power cord that went in to the handle is covered by a small bit of rubber? to protect it. The rubber or whatever is starting to split.

I rang Lakeland yesterday and they were as they always are helpful and efficient. They are sending me a new one so we will see what that is like. Like a lot of you I have the odd scratch on the deep pan but not yet on the shallow pan. I have treated this thing with kid gloves and wash it up and dry it immediately I use it. Like all of you I only use the correct utensils and no metal goes anywhere near it. It seems as though the quality control could be much better on this product. I wouldn't be without it now but it is expensive for so many things to be going wrong.

Interesting - last night I made tea in the remoska and then swopped the pans to cook a crumble and the electricity (sockets) went off at home - which was really annoying as I had the breadmaker on at the time - I didn't even think of the remoska having anything to do with this - what made you think it was this? Do you think my events could be connected? Thanks

I couldn't find anything else that had done it - turned everything off and turned it on again socket by socket and it was the remoska that did it. Happened first after it had been on for quite a long time, then I took the lid off and that movement of the hot lid seemed to be what tripped the electricity.

Hi Sunnyday, you're right - the search facility on the website isn't behaving! I can't fix it at the moment as I'm not in the office but I'll look at it first thing tomorrow. However, if anyone's desperate to find the remoska pages tonight this web address should get you there:

  • I love my remoska, but I've noticed exactly the same scratches in the bottom of my pans. I only use melamine or wooden utentils and always line the bottom.

Mine has tripped the electricity this evening as well. It's only happened this once, but a bit odd. Hubby was cooking, took the lid off to give it a stir and socket circuit tripped.
I will keep my eye on it, and also the Teflon issue. I will definitely call Lakeland if either becomes a big issue, because I know they will sort it out.

  • I was still sitting on the fence about a Remoska purchase and thinking about other options after I posted an enquiry about Bravoska a couple of days ago - I came back today a bit dismayed at the Teflon problems .......... but then the users still recommend it as essential ??????? ......... this must be good .......... then in flies guardian angel Adrian from Lakeland LOL
I'm no longer on the fence - all through these postings everybody has said that Lakeland customer service is 2nd to none - I guess I'm now utterly convinced this venture is well worth the risk and I am taking the plunge. :)

I wish you hadnt mentioned the clothes airer - I quickly glanced at it the other day but tried to ignore it coz I really cant afford it at the moment - but at 3p an hour can I afford to ignore it???:D ...............(will probably have another sneaky look at that later)

Anway - back on topic - I too have noticed little scratches but am still more than happy with my moskie. Not only am I saving on electric but the kitchen smells much less when I am cooking things iykwim.

Tonight I shall be doing marinated pork kebabs on the rack with roasted vegetables underneath.
