Re veg and Remo9ska-this is a really sad admission. I love roast dinners but youngest has now left for student digs so--.I find a really guilty totally fuss free dinner in Auntie Bessie's frozen roast potatoes and a Tesco nut cutlet with steamed veg and lots of gravy (and cranberry sauce !). A good cheer up and totally fuss and mess free. Veggie. pies also do well as do the other veg things you can buy-much crisper than in the fanh oven. have also done veggie curries in it on a one pot basis

I'm a Remoska newbie! Inspired by this thread I finally gave into temptation and bought a Remoska. I made a risotto in it yesterday, which was lovely. Today, I've prepared a meat pie to go in it, and I've also prepared a quiche base for the freezer with the spare pastry.
Then I glanced at the recipes to get an idea for how long it takes to cook a pie ... umm... or to blind bake for a quiche .... double ummm.

Can anyone help me? Have you any idea - an approximate guestimate would be fine, just that I don't even know where to start. Don't even know how long they'd need in a normal oven :o Oops, should have thought of that before ....

Well, I'm not sure whether I blind baked correctly, but it seems to have worked :T It took about 15 mins. The pie - which turned out perfectly! - took about 45 minutes. At some stage (sorry, just kept looking, didn't notice how much time had gone) I put on a foil ring with a hole cut in the centre like the instructions recommend, to stop the edges from over-cooking. Much better than any pie I've ever made in the oven!

well done :T - wish i could have a taste myself!!

i think in these times of credit crunch etc when the government is talking about helping peope to cut bills etc, they should just give every household a remmy!!! its working for me thats for sure!!

Hi all, I've thought of getting one of these but wonder how many people the largest one can cater for. Also we are veggie and found that a slow cooker didn't work for us, would we get enough use out of a remoska since we are not doing roasts or casseroles?

    Thanks, Ness.

Hi Ness, I am also veggie and had the same problem, bought a slow cooker and ended up giving it away. I thought about the moski for ages as it is quite expensive but eventually went for it and never regretted it. I do beanie type casseroles but I haven't used my oven since I bought it, I live on my own and bought the standard I could probably have managed with the small one but it doesn't have the glass in and I wanted to see what was happening and I just batch cook and freeze. I would say go for it, with the Lakeland guarantee and the prices used ones go for on ebay you haven't got anything to lose.

  • I bought my mum a remoska a few weeks ago and she was suspicious and not over keen to try it at first. But she's a keen baker and finally was intrigued enough to try it and got great results with some basic scones and now she's in love with it and trying new recipes 2-3 times a week. Result!

    Hi all,
my big deep pan that came with the remoska has now got some scratch marks on it :( I`m careful to line the pan with greaseproof paper before i use it to bake in directly and if i`m doing something in liquid i use my plastic utensils, i`ve had these utensils for years and use them with all my non stick pans and i`ve never had a problem with them before, they do bend but arn`t really soft like the silicone ones.
What i need to know is has anyone else had a problem like this with scratches? Could it be that the teflon coating isn`t as good as the coating on my pans? It`s sort of taken the shine off having my remmy if it`s not going to last for very long.

Sunnyday, I could have written this post myself! My pan has got some light scratches too, and I've no idea how they got there as like you, I line the pan every time I use it for baking and use my trusty plastic utensils and nothing else - no metal has ever been within 10 metres of my precious Remoska.

I can only agree with you about the Teflon, and as I've now also bought the shallow pan at  £26.99:eek: it's a bit of a concern. At these prices, I'd like to think the Teflon was going to last for a very long time, but at the current rate of deterioration (only had my Remoska a month or so) I can't see it happening.

Oh dear that doesnt sound very good ,I would have expected better quality for the money. I am still on the fence regarding buying one but this is putting me off! Is there a cheaper alternative to the remoska in terms of low energy cooking (I dont mean slow cookers) I have heard of halogen ovens but have no idea about how well the work etc. I am cringing every time I use my old oven !
JAN GC- £155.77 out of £200:D FEB GC £197.31 out of £180:o. MARCH GC - out of £200

Bertiebots, I don't mean at all to put you off as I absolutely love my Remoska and have used it every day since I bought it. I'd be interested to hear other people's experiences with the Teflon, though, especially those who've had their Remoska for a while.
  • Afternoon my dear Remoskanions! :D

Well yesterday I made the salmon fishcakes (but not the chilli salsa) from the Moski Cookbook. They were delicious.
They took longer to cook than they specified and I mashed the potato too much so they were a bit too soft, but other than that all was good.

Tonight I am making Chicken with lemon on a bed of Roasted Vegetables (also from the cookbook) so will report back tomorrow.

I need to call Lakeland as my Moski still cooks unevenly on each side but I don't want to be without my Moski for a day or two...

    How are you all doing?
Anyone else tried out any recipes from the Moski Cookbook?
 Ageing is a privilege not everyone gets.

how nice to hear from lakeland direct! I would comment on the guarantee. I had a problem with a remoska I bought well over a year ago - after it had been on for an hour, it tripped the electricity. I rang Lakeland for advice and they immediately offered me a new one. As I'd bought it at the shop in Newcastle and don't have an account with them for phone or online orders I thought i'd have to go there with it, but they picked the old one up and delivered a new one - to my work address which was easier for me.

Interesting - last night I made tea in the remoska and then swopped the pans to cook a crumble and the electricity (sockets) went off at home - which was really annoying as I had the breadmaker on at the time - I didn't even think of the remoska having anything to do with this - what made you think it was this? Do you think my events could be connected? Thanks
    I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!
