Thanks Whatawit - yes Louie that figure was for gas.
Basically it looks like the Remoska has already saved me money on the gas bill and that was when I very first got it so wasnt using it as much as I do now. My cooker hob is gas and the oven is an electric fan oven so I know I will definately have saved some money by not using the oven as much.
I would love to sit down and work out properly the savings when my electric bill comes in but I think from my earlier experience that I will just take it that I have saved
Anyway to be truthful the fuel savings are a bonus, I love the way the food cooks in the remoska, how easy it is to clean and how kitchen smells have been minimised.0 -
just thought I'd share my bit of good news with you all. I sent one of my recipes off to the 'hooray for home cooking' website and they liked it so much they sent me a remoska apron! How lovely!
I'm doing tortellini tonight so no remoska tonight, I did do bacon and eggs for the kids in it though when they got in from schoolSave £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000

I saw the aprons on the website the other day
I made burgers for kids in mine on rack today, when I went to turn burgers I took out rack and put a denby bowl with some tin foil over top to heat up the beans in.0 -

I have to admit that I cannot get mine quite as crispy as in the oven but I do mine on a piece of tin foil and spray them with olive oil/frylite and take the lid off a couple of times to let the steam escape. But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0 -
Hiya
My Remoska arrived todayI hadn't expected it to arrive so quickly but decided to use it and we had a bit of a makeshift meal while I practice - jacket spuds and pasta bake ....... can't fault the pasta bake but the jackets took longer than than I expected and I was a bit disappointed after reading in here they are 'even better than in the oven' ....... I don't agree as I prefer a crisp skin ...... however they were far superior to microwave jackets - maybe next time I'll start them off in the microwave.
I also observed after all the comments on baking cakes ....... my one and only cake tin the correct size for my mothers hand me down recipe (which I think I've stuck up in the loft) I doubt would fit in the remoska !!! the deep pan isn't as deep as I expected. Do you bakers use shallow cake tins even for recipes that should be in deeper ones and do you just bake for less time ? not that cakes really matter to me hence the tin in the loft
I have some small pyrex dishes if I put the veg in water in one of these (covered of course) would this work ?
My first impression of this alien in my kitchen is quite promising ...... first time in use and I produced a perfectly good meal without much forethought when I had been half expecting a disaster so far so good0 -
We've been cooking with our Remoska now for (I think) about 3 weeks and have only used the oven 2 or 3 times since then! I absolutely love it. DH did a fry up in it yesterday for our tea and it was great. I have been making scones on a regular basis (which disappear pretty rapidly as well!), and I am browsing recipes to see what else we can try. The only down side I can see is that I can no longer count on the warmth from the oven to heat up the kitchen a little in colder weather.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0

I hav the Mini version and I do find it good for things like heating up cold pasties, pizza slices, croissants etc. It also cooks sausages very well. The only problem is that you can't control the heat, and to me it seems a bit hot to do cake. Maybe it's because it's the mini one. I would say, cook anything in it which would need the oven at gas 6 or above.
Also, I can't get oven chips to taste right in it. I think they must need more space and hot air around them.
I bought a normal Remoska sized rack to use as a trivet when taking the hot lid off, and it fits the mini lid perfectly. Czech engineering, or coincidence??!0
