  • Hi Guys, welcome to newbie remoskans too!

Well, remoska came....remoska went.....I came home to a spanking new grand but when I got it out of the box the lid doesn't fit...again! So, I've given up, I'm going to stick with my standard which I am very happy with and can do everything in it for us 4. Its no great loss, I just can't be bothered with all the redeliveries. I love Lakeland but the quality control on these remoskas seems hit and miss to me, if you get a good 'un then its heaven on earth!

Not to worry, I'm still part of the gang, just got a little 'un now! (standard) BTW, tonight in my remoska....I'm doing baked veg in a cheese sauce so looking forward to that. Even though I've just gone back to work after the hols its no chore to bung on the remoska with everything in it as I know it will be tasty!

    Still happy :)

  • I've had mine a few days now. Baked jacket potatoes are fantastic and the bread dough made in the Panasonic then baked in the remoska is amazing.
I divided the dough into 2 before putting in the pan as shown in the walnut loaf recipe in the book that comes with the remoska. Anyone else think it looks like someone buttocks:grin:
I cooked flat chips and egg at lunchtime. Even the dog was sitting in the kitchen waiting for a chip and he has never done that before!
Now I'm wondering about popcorn. Has anyone tried it? I might give it a go this evening unless someone tells me not to for some reason I haven't thought of.

Popcorn sounds interesting, not thought of that, let us know how it goes!

I have a veggie bolognese pasta bake going at the mo, need to add some breadcrumbs and cheese to the top in a mo when it's cooked through so that it can crisp up, looks and smells lovely!

when you say popcorn - as in oil and pop the corn in the remoska?? wouldn't that ruin the teflon?

Hi I have already asked a few questions about the remoska and keep going and looking at the web site.....I am so tempted especaily because of the energy saving factor. Can I just ask with the shallow or standard pan do you simply swap them , by that I mean use one instead of the other in the stand or place the smaller inside the larger? Also when baking can you line the pan with baking paper and put a pudding or cake straight in the pan...if you need to line it at all that is. There are 5 of us so I would be making large meals!! I might ask santa for one early and start saving as it will (trust me ) be the expensive grand I need. Sorry to be a pain but I dont want to be wasting money......so thanks again!

I cooked a joint of pork in my grand remmy yesterday and the lid now has terrible discolouration around the edges it reminds me of how chip pans used to go. Whatever it is its just not budging:confused:
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

hi yes you just swap the shallow pan for the deep pan or vice versa

you can put in any container (i.e. cake tins casseroles etc ) that you would use in your ordinary oven - you may want to cover the bottom to make sure it does not scratch though

I know they are allot to pay at the beginning but as I said before it’s not just the energy consumption that I save - I am so in love with mine I have not had a takeaway in 2 months and we used to have them at least once a week!! - I now don't buy any preprepared meals as once a fortnight I batch cook and freeze - at the moment I have curry - sweet and sour - cottage pie - fish pie - spag bol - liver and onions - beef casserole - chiili - all portioned in foil containers like you get from the take away - in the morning I take them out and they only take 30 mins in the remmy to reheat

they are brilliant for chops - especially lamb chops done on top of new potatoes!! - even burgers cook brilliantly - joints of meat and whole chickens fantastic

yesterday I made rice pudding for desert - now believe me I used to spend a fortune on Sunday lunch deserts (i.e. shop made sticky toffee pudding or trifles or gateaux or the like) - yesterday about 20p for the rice - 10p worth of sugar- and a litre of full fat jersey milk at £1.09 - less than £1.50 for a pudding for 6 and everyone said it was the best desert they had had in years!!!

this morning I made up ciabatta dough in the panasonic using half a bag of one of the mixes from lildl (lidl bread mixes are fab by the way - 99p a bag and 2 lots in each bag) all it cost was 50p for half a bag and teaspoon of olive oil and 350 mil of water - out of that I got 4 really large ciabatta rolls for lunch and a big ciabaltta loaf to have tomorrow with soup!! fantastic!!

all in all my remmy has transformed the way I eat shop and spend - you can have my microwave you can even take my dishwasher - but touch my remmy and ill have your hands off!! ( lol)

Never thaught of buying those foil containers....great idea if they are cheap enough.:T I always seem to be ruining the plastic ones and dont like the way they discolour and start to smell after several bolognese/chilli/soup portions! Thanks I may order one later when I have "asked" dh:rotfl: :D .

  • Our breadmaker has given up the ghost and I'm now looking to replace it. Is the remoska a suitable alternative??? I have seen recipes online that allow you to make bread in it, but we normally make at least one loaf a day, I'm not sure if it could cope with the usuage for just breadmaking, I'd be going for the grand one as there's 4 of us and I like to put some in the freezer if possible...and are there any sources for secondhand ones...haven't come across any yet, but I'd rather pay full price (or less if I can) and get something I can use for not just bread IYSWIM?
