I got my £50 instantly. Log onto SayNoTo0870, find Natwest's customer service number, and call from a mobile that you have free minutes on. Then the call probably won't cost you anything

...but I do not want to waste a load of money on phone calls.

If you're calling from a landline you can use 0800 592 933, which will be free.
  • I got a letter yesterday responding to my complaint that said that my twelfth payment was 3rd September and that I would have to wait til the end of the month (it was actually the 3rd August).

I phoned up and had to explain to them that September - August was actually twelve payments - quite concerning for banking staff to not be able to work this out without help!

The woman on the phone was emailing my details to the correct department for them to sort it out in 48hours - not holding my breath though.

  • Well after yesterdays phone call the same lady phoned me back this morning and has credited the £50

She stated that the company missed out many due in August and planned to add their names to the list for Septembers payment (20th)

I added again that this is not right as each account is different due to the 30 day rule in the original terms and conditions.

She said that they acknowledge there are problems with the payments but only with a small number of accounts!!

I added that Natwest should have contacted us if they knew they missed the payment date and not the customers doing all the calling. I also said again about this site and added that they should take a look at what people think of them.

My saga is now over, apart from closing the account, so I wish the rest of you good luck in dealing with these cowboys.

I am just about to start out trying to get my £50 my 12th payment was the 5th of September, but I do not want to waste a load of money on phone calls. Has anyone spoken to Watchdog on there link. maybe they can name and shame Nat West over this matter.

Has anyone had the £50 without jumping through hoops to get it!!!!

You can't really complain until the 5th October - as per the terms they have 30 days
  • I have a letter from NatWest promising to pay me £50 at the end of August.

I know that there can be problems with any system and I shall remain patient to the 20th September. If I have to call them, I will be closing my account - after 26 years.

  • So far I've paid in 13 monthly £100s No sign of any £50 bonus. Telephone to bank, they say next month they will pay! So £1400 in account before they cough up. Crafty lot.

QUOTE=StuartGMC;12584979]That was my view; already with NatWest with current a/c and First Reserve which I will continue to use as previously with moving cash to/from/to current a/c as required. So the only thing I'm doing differently is automatically scheduling some of the monthly amount I would transfer manually online to earn £50.

Decided to set up SO to run from 29 July, as T&C note changes at any time. Do
keep a print out to show when you set up the arrangement if not with NatWest plus print the page of their offer with the date showing, as your "evidence" if there is any question of changes arising in future. My experience with them has been very good for some 25yrs so I would expect this public offer to have been considered carefully and to be honoured (but they could close it quickly of course if they see any "holes" in it from their point of view).[/QUOTE]
  • First SO set up on 25th July, 12th one in June. I didn't bother calling them until last week, as I thought I would give them a chance to sort their systems out. No such luck!

Anyway, I've been told that I'm on the "list" for payment at the end of the month and that I should call them at the beginning of October if I don't see the money.

Incidentally, my brother got his £50 2 weeks after his 12th payment. We set up the accounts on the same date and arranged everything in the same way. The only difference is that I transferred money out instantly, while he was a good boy and kept the £100 building up to £1,200 at the end of 12 months.

I think lilsunflower has a very valid point. My wife and I both saved the full £1200 and got the £50 without any problem. It would be interesting to see how many other people this applies to. The T&Cs definitely said you could withdraw funds, so they should treat everybody equally.
  • I didnt keep the money in, but I did take it out as and when I wanted to, not as soon as it went in. I got the £50 no problem. I already had a natwest esaver account and a current account too
