Hi there - just wanted to thank you all for being glad that I'm feeling better! I feel really great now so hope it lasts!

Aussie - THANK YOU so much - what a lovely lovely a**e!!

R.Mac - what a selfish SIL - tell her not to move abroad, then! Are you supposed to plan your family around her?

Happy Birthday to Dan the Man; as Aussie says, just wait until he's 26 but I can go one better - my youngest is 26 but my eldest is 36, almost 37! Yikes, now that does make you feel old!

Mind you, when I was away on the hen weekend with all the girlies, I felt like I was a teenager again, especially when we were all getting ready to go out and sharing the hairdryer and doing each other's hair and so on! I loved it - it took me back years!

Oh well - I'd better go and empty the WM - not sure whether to hang the washing out or not; it looks a bit dodgy at the moment.

Hope everyone has a good day.

    KathyXX

PenPin - just read what you posted on the 'thank you' thread and it brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for being part of our thread!

Your sister in law is the selfish one, not you. It was her decision to move and since when could a couple not have a baby because a relative was going away?

Self centred is not the word for the daft *****! I would have found it impossible not to say that someone who spoilt my happy news by crying and throwing their dummy out of the pram was the selfish one.
I feel heartily sorry for your poor brother!

Need to go out now as we bought a (fairly expensive for us) ketle from Teco about a month ago and it is now leaking like mad! DH has kept the receipt so we are going to exchange it for a decent one!

    Morning all!

Love and hugs to you all. We are a bit busy this weekend DH going to an airshow tomorrow and Sunday I have my niece over (15 months) whilst my sister and Mum are selling at the carboot.

Chrisca! Ella Louise is beautiful and now I have had my fix for newborns!

Dorry I don't mind heights but OMGoodness! That looks scary to me!

Right off to do something as the timer just beeped and I have had enough computer time apparently!

    Read you all soon!!!!

    Morning all,

Didn't sleep well last night....was in some place where I was helping to smuggle out people who were on a death list...no idea where the brain got that from but was almost glad to get up!

Happy birthday RZL and Dan the Man :bdaycake::bdaycake:
Taplady....eldest daughter will be 38 at the end of the year....now that is what is called making you feel old!

PenPin...good to see you in such good form this morning...you are such a brave girl!
Mioliere, glad to hear that you are feeling better this morning.
Candygirl...rest to-day, you have had a lot of trauma lately so you need and deserve it.
Snowy...good luck with the job hunt
Aussie....what a saintly little boy your DGS is....none of my children would ever have done the like either(!!!)
Dorry...can't seem to get on with facebook, maybe its just for clever people!
Squiddly...pity poor me...we have not had Saturday postal deliveries here for many years so at least you are doing better
Chrisca...beautiful baby, like the names too.
r.mac...wonderful supportive SIL you have there! By the way congratulations, was away when you made your announcement.
N9eav...hope that you have a good day fishing....got so much lovely fresh fish in Oz that I am very unhappy now with frozen...hope that it passes as I don't think I can afford the fresh fish prices here....was looking at Irish fishermen dumping beautiful cod and herring last night on tv...under EU law they are only allowed to land certain amounts of either, so back into the sea it goes, to feed the birds...makes such sense doesn't it??
DD2 is arriving from London on 19th...finally going to have christening of DGD3 on 27th, so whole tribe will be here, haven't seen some of them for months so look forward to it even if it will be chaos.
DGS 1 here all week, he is a good little fellow, loves cooking so might make some bread with him later, should be some raspberries to be picked too so that will be another treat.
Hugs to all in need or want and congratulations to all who are celebrating

    Hello again

Aussie - please accept a simple and grateful "Thank you" for that picture. Phoooaarr! Have you got another one of him getting out of the water?:D

Dorry - OMG that is high! But look at how brilliantly your DS crossed over - I'm sure lots of the other kids made use of the safety rope.

r.mac - your silly sil!! Maybe she didn't mean to sound as self-centred as she did. It must be hitting home to her that she's going to be miss so much by going away, and that in fact life will continue to carry on without her!

meanmarie - know what you mean about facebook. All those strange applications people keep sending and they are for nothing really. I got invited to be a friend by people from years ago, but for some reason none of them want to exchange proper hellos or emails. But if you think facebook is bad don't even think about going onto Bebo...

PippaS - that sounds like a lovely circle of friends you have there. You are very lucky to have them.

I've done sweet fairy adams this morning so I'll toddle off and try and make some progress now.

    Bye all

    Snowy

Snowy, that was what I was going to say to RMac as well - it's the reality of her sil realising that she won't just be able to pop round & be so close or involved in what's going on - it sounds like it her reaction maybe wasn't meant the way it sounded? I'm sure she could have been a bit more tactful though...!

Dorry, your DS is as brave as my youngest DD - we went to Little Canada on the Isle of Wight a few weeks ago (with the fostering team I was doing my placement with) and she did everything involving heights with a great big grin on her face!). I was very good at encouraging her..... Have PM'd you as well.

MeanMarie, sounds like something to look forward to, having all the family together. :) I can see the mail/post getting to the point where we all have to go & collect it if we want it

Dropped oldest DD & her mates at the hairdressers earlier as they are all getting their "prom hair" done. I went across to Seaford to look in Morrisons (as we don't have one - nor do we have Woolworths :( ) and got a couple of bits, but it was soooo busy I was getting really irritated. It didn't seem as good as the one in Bognor so I will wait till I visit my little sis & raid that one instead. Was expecting to pick up DD on the way back but they are nowhere near done apparently, so I am home & waiting to be summoned for a lift home (they can't POSSIBLY get the bus once their hair is done, lol).

rmac - It is her, not you, don't let it put a downer on your wonderful news. Sounds like a touch of jealousy to me. My littlest sister was narky when my middle sister got married. It's really sad I think, even if you want these things and don't have them, you should still be able to share the joy of those around you :)
    Chrisca - that's so sweet - a really lovely name :)
moliere - if you are doing circles of organza for favours, I found that using a loo roll to hold them whilst I tied made it quicker - the stuff is so slippery it's untrue, but a cardboard tube works wonders for keeping it still.
Hester - My mum found her local creative writing circle really cliquey too - and found they just wanted to critise her work as she wrote poety (and often it was funny rather than arty) rather than prose. You can write really well, you blog is a testament to that, so I hope you find some way to follow up your interest.
    Candygirl - (((hugs))) for you.

I have a vile metallic taste in my mouth - I've had it for about a week now but it's really really bad today. The only thing that seems to dull it are dairy products - and as I don't normally eat that sort of thing, I'm trying to weigh up if I prefer the taste of aluminium to the raging milk-induced-nausea. :rotfl: Ah well. I hope I've not absorbed something nasty from work. Hiding from Dr Jeckyll as usual - I think he's in Nottingham today, but he's on a paper drive and he's driving me nuts with the want-this-want-that stuff. We call these days his "white powder days" at work

Still, must dash - loads to do and OH is back later and having completely forgotton to do my morning OS rush (turn on washing machine, take out bread, empty recycling) the flat is a tip, so I'd like to make it look a bit less like scrapheap challenge before he gets in. hugs to all, cel x

Thanks for all your good wishes for DGD, I know I am biased but she is beautiful!!! I said to DS after we came out of the hospital last night how did you manage to produce such a beautiful baby. Think it might have had something to do with her mum's good looks though lol

Pippa S there were 2 names in the pot, one I liked and one I didn't like, when we got up to the hospital they were discussing names and Ella was brought into the mix and we all said yes that's lovely so off my DS went to the nurse to confirm that she now had a name lol
OMG Dorry I can't even climb up on one of those little 2 step stools you keep in the kitchen without getting dizzy let alone up there – what a brave daredevil he is!!!
r.mac hope you get enough names to make a shortlist!!! I can't believe your SIL would say such a thing. What were you supposed to do hold fire until she decided she wanted to come back? Lol
  • Afternoon everyone - (((hugs))) to all as wants or need them, plenty to go round.

Thank goodness it's Friday, hu? I've been having a bit of a busy time of it recently, with being away and having visitors and I worked out last week that this weekend will be the first I've had on my own, in my own house since mid-april  . I cannot wait! I've even been enjoying having the place to myself in the evenings this week... I love my friends and family, but sometimes it's good to get a bit of peace (cheaper, too, given the lack of anything at all forthcoming for electricity and teabags.... ). So tonight's plan is to inventory the freezer (and cupboards, but that's not such a big deal) and get some meal plans organised from them.

Then this weekend I'm meeting a friend I've not seen a lot of recently to go down to the local farmers' market (I can walk there and back and won't buy much if I have to carry it :D ) and I'm treating her to breakfast out - but as she cuts my hair (really, really, well) in exhange it's a bargain at less than a fiver! :T .

I've also got a trip to the optician's coming up as my proper glasses have apparently dissolved a little on contact with my skin (I've very acidic skin and I've worn them constantly for nearly two years) and the rough bits hurt my nose too much to wear. The ones I'm wearing atm are really not comfortable, so that'll be a great big wodge of cash vanishing down the drain.... Ah well, at least it means I'm out of work early today....

r.mac how selfish is she!!!!!!I reckon its a touch of the green eyed monster there. Take no notice of her some people should just :silenced:
O I am pleased the sickness has gone off now:T
taplady Happy 16th Birthday to your DS

    Hey Aussie niiiiiicccce welly`s

Thanks Snowy yes they are :D

Dorry you said don`t look but I did

Just had a call from one of the friends I am meeting tonight to let me know not to pick her up as she won`t be coming, her son was in a pub last night, after watching the cricket at the Edgbaston ground, and a man pushed a glass into his face.
He was rushed to Selly Oak Hospital then transferred to the Q.E. to see a surgeon, it looks like he will need plastic surgery eventually.
The police have been to see him and want him to press charges, there are 23 witnesses to what happened, and they have arrested the man.
My friend is in bits, poor thing.
