No im not a Mod. I made that statement in light of the deleted posts from some sections of the MSE that were aimed at people promoting certain websites and it caused fractions as some accused others of posting comments for financial gain, and it appears to have caused some to leave the forum
If you had made your post more clear, that you'd used them and liked the service, I wouldn't have made my comment. It was on the back of those deletions and at the time was justified I believe.

Hi, like most other people on the forum I am now armed with all the info I need about buying a mattress. My only problem is that I can't get the brand I want delivered over here in Northern Ireland, and the stores near me only seem to sell Sealy/SN etc. Does anyone have any comments on the following two brands:
Myers
Relyon
I know a local retailer sells both but don't want to go looking until I know a bit more about themI was advised by a neutral in the business that they are a good brand and top quality. Relyon hasn't had such good reviews, but I may stand corrected if anyone has actually bought one?

I'm new to this thread.... and about to buy the Sealy Windermere mattress and wanted to know if anyone can give me any advice. £650 is the cheapest I can find. is this a good choice of mattress?
am open to any suggestions of alternatives, but we're really after a pocket spring pillow topped mattress
all advice gratefully received... :money:0 -
Sealy is part of the Silentnight group, do a forum search on Silentnight to see why that's not such a good idea... especially at that price :A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. We have a new mattress, pocket sprung with memory foam top, with which we are really pleased, but I already really miss my old, now discarded electric blanket. Has anyone experience of the newer electric mattress protectors which are machine washable? I wonder if you can feel the wires in these? Would they spoil the feel of the memory foam? I would switch it off when I get into bed. I'm not keen on flannelette sheets as they are not as 'slippy' for turning over on, but I hate getting into a cold bed.0

Hi, I'm new to this site and have spent ages reading through this thread and am now totally confused on what to get. We only have a small budget (a lot of money to us though) of £250 and need a new double mattress.
We've been looking at this one http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/catalogId/1500001151/partNumber/6678340.htm
Is this any good do you think? or maybe this one

We don't have any independent shops in my area as I'm in the sticks so need to rely on mail order unfortunately.
Thanks0 -

Whatever you do DON'T use an electric blanket with memory foam.
Memory foam reacts to your body heat in order to soften and mould to your body. It also needs the memory foam not in contact with your body to be cooler, and in turn firmer. This is how the memory foam gives you support.
If the memory foam was heated up before you get into bed, then you will just flatten it when you get into bed, and you will sink the full depth of the memory foam.0 -

I'm afraid it is a myth that you can get bargains from Argos. The only items that are cheap seem to be either reduced to clear, or are cheap quality.
It doesn't say much about either mattress, but from what I can see, and what it does say it appears that the pocket sprung mattress is entry level. If you shop around you should be able to get far better for your £250.0 -
Thanks, do you mean shop around online? The thing is, as I'm no expert, it's rather difficult to know what's better or not so I could end up just getting soemthing even worse. Even having read a lot of this thread I still have no idea what constitues 'quality' especially in my price range .. open coil or pocket? how many springs are good/too few/too many? I now know of a few makes to avoid but that's about it.
This is a complete minefield.
Sorry, that's not a moan at you or the advice given on here as it's all helpful and appreciated, it's just I never realised how complicated just getting a bed could be0
