Hypnos are supposed to be a very good brand, but then so were Sealy until they were taken over.
Oh dear, looks like Hypnos are about to be 'Deegan'd' too. I seem to recall that not long ago this was one of the few brands that Tim didn't rubbish.

Hope you are well-funded Tim to fight all those potential claims of defamation from the manufacturers. Anyone taking bets on Silentnight being at the front of the queue?

    Please quote the whole paragraph:

"Hypnos are supposed to be a very good brand, but then so were Sealy until they were taken over. The trouble is that many companies are cutting quality to cut costs. Hopefully Hypnos aren't doing the same."

I agree that Hypnos are good mattresses, but they are very very overpriced for what you actually get.

You can't really compare a Silentnight or Rest Assured to a Hypnos as they are at opposite ends of the quality scale.

    Not so long ago.............
How fickle you are Tim. ;)

As I said, and you quoted, "Hypnos are supposed to be a very good brand". However I am very wary about recommending any large company after I recommended Sealy, then found out that their quality had dropped. This is why I recommend going to smaller independent manufacturers, because they have more to prove, so you tend to get more for your money.

So please stop nit picking, and only quoting part of my posts......are you a journalist by any chance?
  • This is the first time that I have used this site so I hope someone can help me.

I am thinking of buying a Galway mattress from Dreams. Can anyone let me know if they have bought this mattress and what it is like.
  • It's taken a couple of glasses of the old vino to build up enough courage to ask a question but here goes.

Does anyone have any experience of buying beds from on-line retailers? I've been looking at bedlumbeds and bedkingdom and would appreciate any feedback on their service from anyone who has brought from them. Are there any others that I should consider or things I should particularly look out for?

With an item like a bed, i'd not make a purchase from an online store based solely on the sales patter. You need to know what it is you like, what feels good and what will last. Have you already been to some bed shops to try out the ones you like? Once you have established your criteria and budget, then you can start looking for who does the best product within your price range and who would be best to buy that from...

    HTH :)

It appears my 1st reply has been scratched for some reason

    Firstly, welcome :)

The trouble with Dreams products, is that they have beds made specifically for their stores, which are usually so that they can say 'if you can find it cheaper elsewhere...blah, blah', you wont be able to basically! Also they tend to be more 'profitable' mattresses, with mark-up being more improtant than quality, so you will get non-turn versions or poorer quality materials used so that they can afford their 0% finance deals and the commision for the sales staff!

What type of mattress are you looking for, and at what budget? Hopefully we can help advise so that you can find what you are looking for at a reasonable price :)

  • Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to buy a pocket sprung with foam topping (on both sides to allow turning). So given that I've done the homework and made the choice, the question is where to buy from. Any opinions? I have looked at several outlets and was asking for opinions on bedlumbds and bedkingdom as companies to deal with - or any others I should consider.

    Regards

You have the right idea with a memory foam pocket sprung bed, both top and bottom to allow for turn, but cant really comment on who to use due to previous posters who claimed certain sites were getting benefits from this thread.
