Why don't you both PM each other, have a respectful chat on the phone, thrash this out (without getting too Max Mosley on us :D)and report back!

I have invited them to call me a few times, but that's not why they are herer. They are here to try and discredit me

Well I guess they think they have reason to discredit you otherwise they wouldn't waste their time..... However I would suggest that if you both talk and then perhaps work out where you are both coming from and perhaps there is some compromise... The challenge is for anyone who wants to talk to Tim about their 'issues' with him, etc they PM him and talk on the phone and then report back on the conclusions! Oh well I'm going to shut up now before this I start sounding like Cilla Black! :D

I would welcome phone calls. They don't need to PM me, as they seem to think they know all about me, so must know my phone number. But that wouldn't fit in with their plan to discredit me in public.

I'm not going to argue with you any further Tim, as one thing a do agree with is that this has already taken far more of my time than it has been worth.

For the record, my problem with you is that when someone else sees or gets a good deal, and tries to tell others about it here, you often rubbish them or what they have found. People quite literally have to fight with you to establish their point or findings.

This isn't fair. They are entitled to post their comments and findings about a certain bed or deal and I for one believed that this is what this site was for...

Don't be so paranoid about my intentions. I don't own a bed shop, I just wanted you to answer my questions. As you know, I was given contradictory advice to yours elsewhere. (Your points are as valid as everyone else's - and in may cases, more so, as you rightfully have industry knowledge which is helpful to many.) But when you arrogantly dismiss peoples thoughts and tell them 'to go away' then don't be surprised when they take exception to this!

For some reason, you have chosen once again to avoid these questions?

Surely you could have put this petty argument 'to bed' quite some time ago by answering me???

I really don't understand why you have avoided these. And this is why I have to conclude that you can't answer them, as it would prove you have intentionally misled us, and have been caught telling a fib.

Can you now see my point?

Why don't we move on Tim, as I can't see this bickering helping anyone save money... I just hope you can now appreciate my point of view.

    Mo

I would have answered all your questions a long time ago if you had just been polite. But each time I answer a question you don't read my whole answer and you twist it around.

I welcome anyones views, but what I don't welcome is when people come on here (who are obviously in the trade) to promote their goods, whilst pretending to be a satisfied customer. This actually happens quite often. If it is a satisfied customer then that's fair enough. You have to remember that I have experience in many types of mattress, and have spoken to 1000's of peoples views on them. So if someone comes on here and gives the pros for a particular model mattress, then in order to help people making a choice I will also balance this with the cons. You have to remember that the bed industry (probably like any other industry) is full of gimmicks and hype, and the main reason I am on here is to make people aware of these gimmicks so that they aren't conned by them.

I don't answer questions as someone who sells beds, but as someone who has an in depth knowledge of them. This is why I don't give out my web site address (even in PM's) as many people will verify. It is also why I give advice in two Northern Ireland mattress threads, which there is no way I could benefit from. However the people who you spoke to were trying to sell you something. They didn't sell the type of product you asked about, so they tried to steer you away from it, and towards products that they sell. The only time I will dismiss a view is when I actually know that it is just hype.

The only people who I have told to go away, are trolls who can't say anything constructive.

As I have said on many occasions, feel free to phone me, and stop insulting someone who you know nothing about.

Now either call me or stop insulting me with libelous comments that are actually just assumptions, and let this thread continue as it was intended.
  • Why don't you answer his questions then Tim? :)

    Hi,

We have been looking at the Sealy branded Laguna mattress at Dreams (699 gbp) but apart from a few minor adjustments, I think it is the same as the Sealy Reflex Pocket Collection 5000 (~240 gbp less online).

Does anyone know if I am correct in this assessment?

In any case, I wouldn't want to buy the Sealy without trying it, but cannot find a shop with a showroom that stocks it - does anyone know of one in the Reading, Berkshire area where we could try it out?

    Thanks

    Mark

Im in the market for a new mattress, went into the bed factory, I know you said to stay away from the large chain stores but just went in to see what they had with the intention to check prices online of any that I liked afterwards.

I liked 2 beds in there, a pocket sprung/memory foam bed factory branded one at £449, cant remember the model name and a Shakespeare memory plus at £599 which was my favourite.

What do you think of the above mentioned mattresses Tim, any good?

I ran the 2 sided memory foam/pocket sprung mattresses to them, the woman looked at me as if I just told her I killed her cat. Said there would be no point as the memory foam on the other side would get wrecked as all the weight would be on it, said would it not just spring back as its 'memory foam' lol said it would have to be very high quality memory foam to spring back after having all that weight on it and that she wouldnt buy one. Also that they would be very expensive as thats the most expensive part of the mattress to manufacture. Told her that they werent really, she still said she wouldnt buy one and that she had never heard of them.

Anyway, I did find the Shakespeare mattress outstandingly comfortable, what do you think of it?

Err and there was me trying to bring some harmony to this thread and you turn on me...

Fine Tim, I will be rude to you as well!!? You are an arrogant man who seems to flog his beds while he is on duty as a fireman! Is your employer happy for you to do this? Don't you have other work in your job you could be doing?

You slag off anyone who asks for an opinion on a bed that isnt looking for a bed that isn't from an independent manufacturer, that doesnt have memory foam and pocket sprung! Every other bed is rubbish and over priced!

No suprise then, that only you and a couple of other companies online sell such a product!!! You then say "I don't give out my web address" when you know damn well hardly anyone sells the products you recommend so they are bound to find your company online!

Now that you have started turning on me for no reason, I will start to make my personal opinions of you very clear on this thread as well!!!

That is libelous, and is completely against forum rules. I don't sell beds while on duty, and you have no evidence to say that I do.

You were happt to take my advice and bought a mattress that matched with the spec that I recommended (not from me), and went on to tell everyone how happy you were with the advice I gave you, and the mattress you bought.

You even tried playing me off against Bedkingdom, trying to get me to price match. But like I said I'm not on here to sell, and I'm not that desperate to get into a price war. You even tried to bribe me into giving you a discount by abusing your authority for your own gains and publicising us in your local magazine you work for.

You then went on to publicise Bedkingdom on MSE because they did give you a discount.

You should get your facts right because there are loads of companies who sell the mattresses in question. In fact more and more are contacting the manufacturer to sell them.

I was told by mollymo that they couldn't understand what you were up to because you were trying to look like the peace maker in the forum, but were then slating me in PM's.
