Joseph mattresses are good middle of the range, they do a wide range so I guess its depends on exactly what you are looking at and at what price. I have used them before for the Kiddies Cotton mattresses and was very happy with them.

That's more or less what I would have said, and have actually said before. But if I had then I would have been slated by the three trolls in this forum.

The personal attacks and insults might bother me if it wasn't for the fact that for each abusive post I get 100's thanking me.

At the end of the day the trolls are just spoiling it for those whodo want an impartial expert opinion. So don't be put off by the trolls, but instead just ignore them (some of them are actually the same person).

One thing I do agree with is that the forum needs more personal opinions on mattresses that have been bought and used for a period of time (and I don't mean the slanderous ones that trolls have made up).

    Hi Tim,

Can you give me your thoughts on this mattress please?

    bedkingdom.co.uk/MEMORY-FOAM-RANGE/Highgrove-Repose-Milk-Protein-Mattress/

It is to go on a wooden slatted bed, so as this is turnable am I right to assume I wouldn't need to worry about putting hardboard over the slats?

    Thanks in advance.

Hello, In a month I will be moving into my first rental flat on my own, without flatmates YAY! :j

It will be unfurnished and I have been donated a bed but understandably would like a new double mattress, the problem is everyone keeps telling me not to buy a cheap one as it will be cr*p but looking at Argos / Tesco direct they all look pretty simmilar, Ikea is super cheap but they are funny sizes.

I have seen there is a 'which mattress thread' but I am more interested in if anyone knows of anywhere that sells them particularly cheap...ideally I don't want to spend much over £100 (not a cheapskate but do have to furnish an ENTIRE flat!) and it has to be shiny and new! Any thoughts?

I'm not sure if it is two sided. There is very little spec on Highgrove's web site.

It might be worth giving them a call:

One thing Frugaloodle didn't mention was that most of those for collection only will we second hand.

You didn't say what size you were after, but it is possible to get a new middle of the range open coil sprung mattress for not much over £100.

    Most, but not all!

You may be right, but I've never seen any.

I went into the local furniture and bed store near to work today to see what they do as its a small family run set up.

Tried a few out and had to say the difference between my current cheap mattress and these was amazing (I could of had a good kip on any of the ones I tried lol!)

I tested a Millbrook Pesaro 1400 pocket mattress very comfy that was £429. Also a Camargue(?) 2000 pocket at £475.

I tried a couple of memory foam out of interest - would need to try more for longer as felt very warm! one i tried was Dorlux Mayfair 1500 £399.

This is only my first look/try and I will find a lot more time when Im off work after next week to have a look round. These are a bit too expensive for me thinking more around the £200 mark but not sure Il get something decent for that price.

Am sat on my old mattress now and so different to those ones I tried today! I need to read back through the thread to try and find the type of mattress you suggested for my metal frame bed base Tim, silly me forgot to write that info down when I read your reply:rolleyes:

I found out my current mattress name - is a Cumfilox ortholuxe only cost £119 3 years ago - Im guessing this is not the best of mattress!

I shall be visiting the smaller local companies as Id like to support the more family run companies unless there is a major price difference.
