If so then the problem could be one of two things:- The memory foam could be of a poor quality (probably imported).
- Or more likely it is the reflex foam under the memory foam that is dipping. This is quite common as I described a couple of posts ago.
Hi Tim,
Sorry but I cannot remember the name and there is no information on the mattress.
Both sides of the mattress seemed to dip pretty badly and it only cost around £200 and is King Size.
I am reluctant to spend £499 on the Marks and Spencer S100 which seems to be a pocket sprung non turning mattress if it is not going to be up to the job.0 -

It sounds like it could be a Chinese import. There are quite a few on the market. Can you remember where you bought it from?
It is the reflex foam that is degrading as I thought.
Why go to M&S where you would pay way over the top for like you say, a non turn mattress that won't last as long?
If you want more for your money, with better quality go for a smaller independent British based manufacturer.0 -

Tim, I gather you cannot recommend but can you at least tell me the name of some smaller independent British based manufacturers please...0 -

Oh, and I've had the same advice as you - despite what Tim says, you don't need to turn a memory foam mattress over. I'm a little sceptical because his company obviously sell loads of turnable mattresses that other companies don't bother with, so I wonder if that's the reason he's sooooo insistant about it!
Try looking at it the other way around...........it's common sense that say that if you turn a mattress then it will wear evenly, and last far longer. Its also obvious that manufacturers make non turn mattresses to cut production costs (all you have to do is look at the way all the big brand names are lowering quality to cut costs to realise this). The fact is that the few manufacturers who are making two sided memory foam mattresses aren't the big brand names, so most shops won't deal with them yet. However they are getting more and more popular. I know of one manufacturer who say that they are being approached all the time by retailers who want to sell their two sided pocket sprung/memory foam mattresses.
I'm not on here to sell, but the people in the shops who you spoke to weren't going to say 'yes 2 sided pocket sprung/memory foam mattresses are brilliant, but we don't sell them', were they?0 -

I'm afraid I can't. But there are loads of them.0 -
Frugaloodle wrote: »So I expect we'll be seeing these two sided pocket sprung / memory foam mattresses in the bigger retailers soon, will we? Or is the company turning their requests down?!
I suspect they're not that good at all, otherwise they WOULD be sold everywhere. What retailer would deliberately not sell a mattress they know to be a good thing?
Hmmmmm....... I think we can safely conclude that we should all do LOTS of research, on here and on other websites, until we know we've made a good choice, using impartial advice from all available sources.

As with any new innovation that is developed by a smaller company, it takes a while before they reach the big stores. Also the only way that the manufacturers would be able to keep up with production would be to automate. This reduces quality as it has with many of the big brands. So I'd expect the increase in availability to be gradual rather than sudden.0 -
