I am puzzled as to why you can only have certain mattresses, I thought as long as it was the same size as your frame and you were comfy....

Thank you Tim, much appreciated. Will identify some suitable replacement options and run them by you if that is okay. Or maybe you can suggest something, realise you are not allowed to 'advertise' yourself but I am sure the mods will understand that the recommendation of an expert is what we all need. Or at least I know I do anyway. Thanks in advance.

I am happy to spend up to £110 for 1 mattress.

Unfortunately I can't recommend anything because I could sell anything, so if I recommended any model that I either do sell, or could in the near future, then it could still be viewed as advertising.

£110 should buy you a top of the range open coil sprung mattress.

Hi been following this thread for a while and am looking for a little help with the minefield of mattresses.

    I have a wooden slatted bed frame (3" gap) and would like a new mattress. Would like one less than £250 with the following;

    1000 Pocket springs

    2 sided (Turnable)

    Standard Double size

Not really convinced about memory foam at the moment.

    Is this one any good?

    http://www.furniture123.co.uk/layouts/item.asp/itmid/7923/d/Kozee-Sleep-Pocketmaster-1100-Mattress

    Any advice gratefully received.

I'm afraid that mattress would be no good for your bed unless you modified it. With pocket sprung only the gaps should be no more than 1"

That type of mattress is suitable, but in my opinion it is over priced, as it is just a middle of the range open coil sprung mattress.

With pocket springs each individual spring works independently. So if the gaps are too big then the springs will try to push their way down between the slats causing damage.

    Tim

Thanks for your reply, so if I modified so there were no gaps above 1" is this mattress decent for the money?

Or what about Airsprung mattresses any better?

    Cheers

Out of the two mattresses I'd go for the Kozeesleep. But I'd buy from a seller with a better return policy if I were you.
  • I have just bought Harrisons mattress which are pocket sprung as every bed store I went to recommended them.
I was not happy with first one so they replaced with a hand made different tension for me and they are guaranteed for 10 years so anything goes wrong you get a new one:beer: They are pricey but everyone told me to stay away from silent night if that helps?

Din't you just post in another thread where you said that you don't like your Harrison because it is too firm, and you were asking about a topper to soften it up?

The would recommend harrison beds, because they get loads of commission

I'm looking for decent double mattress, seen the following: http://www.mattressman.co.uk/hypnos/mattresses/mattresses/double/P270S3518/silver.aspx any comments on this? Or alternatives? Not heard of Hypnos brand googling seems to suggest a family run biz.
    thanks.
