P_Harrison wrote: »Hi everyone,
I have somehow managed to persuade my landlord to buy a new mattress for my house after two years of being uncomfortable so feeling excited but slightly confused. I have read through this thread and have some idea of what I should be going for but would just like a little more help. I have a Myers Divan base that still seems to be solid. From reading through the posts I would like to get a pocketsprung mattress but budget is £200-250. Are the following any good or would I be better off looking at other types of mattress? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Tim,
Does this seem a good bed / deal?

Have you heard of the company? They say they usually allow free returns unless the buyer is being unreasonable!
As always, your expert advice much appreciated.
Thanks

For reasons of forum discretion and so as to not advertise any particular brand or site, I would recommend that the conversation ends there. You got the drift, so lets just stick to finding which type of bed is right and which brands to avoid etc...:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. hi tim
was wondering if you could help iv read through all the advise youve given on this thread and think i know what type of mattress i need. i have a double pine bedstead with slats and gaps of more than 1". i was going to go for an open coil spring mattress medium firmness our budget is around £200. iv seen three in the la romantica range in an online ebay shop one has memory foam on one side. so my question is am i better going for an ordinary mattress with lots of filling that can be turned and then adding a topper or should i just go for the mattress that has the memory foam.by the way before reading this thread i was going to go for silentnight as always thought they where a top quality make just shows how advertising influences us.:o:coffee:i find a cup of tea can solve most problems:coffee:

Hi Tim,
Would this be a good choice for my Daughter's bed?

They shouldn't go round posting 10% discount codes then should they :T hehe
Yeah including "free" delivery. That's where Quidco can be good though, when the deal is already unbeatable, turning a sale into a deal that no one would knowingly give you. I like to support smaller companies, but sometimes its just too tempting to screw over the big ones!
I have to say your advice on here is first class and has re-iterated much of the advice I received from fellow 'people in the know' although one of the dreams sales people spoke utter tosh.
Keep up the good advice MSE are lucky to have you
Finbow could you share the 10% discount code with us please, it would be a great help. Cheers :beer:0 -

Woodyrocks wrote: »Thanks Tim. This is the mattress I initially ordered. Should I have gone with this? I can't re-order right now as they do not have any stock but I could look for the same if you think it is good.

I wouldn't go with that one. It's only middle of the range at the same price as a top of the rage open coil sprung.0 -

For a budget of two hundred pounds, and gaps in the slats of more than 1" then open coil sprung would definately be the right choice. The memory foam one would probably be the best choice for support. The memory foam would also help prevent roll together (pocket springs would normally prevent this).
Open coil springs are tougher than pocket springs, so turning over isn't as critical.0 -
Thanks again Tim,
After your advice, I contacted the seller of the Restus bed (below) on ebay, and asked him the memory foam density, not telling him what you said about it being only 55.
He has replied saying that they used to be 55, but have recently changed memory foam suppliers and it is now 60.

The question really then is, do you think this mattress is good value for money, and should it help out with easing my lower back pain from sleeping on my crappy Silentnight Pillow Top Micracoil?
Cheers,
Kev0
