  • Hi Tim,

I would be grateful if you would let me know your opinion on Sleepeezee brand please.
  • Tim, if you've got time, could you please help me. I've read some of your postings & am looking at narrowing down to a couple of mattresses before I try & find a them to actually go and test/ lie on in the shop.

I know you've said ignore big names etc, but (see below) I can suffer badly when the mattress isn't right & so I've got up to about £600 to spend on a double mattress & I will be getting a new solid (oak) wooden bed frame to go with it (so I'd appreciate your thoughts on whether my choice of mattress would mean I'd need to modify the bed frame).

I have a friend who has recommended the Rest Assured Sanctuary 2600 (Allure, I think) & I've had a Sealy's in the past & liked it, but I've heard the quality may have gone down hill a bit in recent years & had spoken with someone who had the Mirrorform Perfect Sleeper Mattress from Sealy & thoroughly recommended it, though I don't think I could get it in my price range!

I suffer from back pain after having an accident & myself & my partner are both under 5' 6" & weigh about 10-11 stone. I'm not that bothered/ fussed about the idea of being a bit hotter in bed, so I would happily consider the memory foam top & just want something that is going to be best for comfort/ the contours of my spine whilst I am sleeping.

In your opinion, should I be looking at pocket sprung or sprung of whatever nature, with a latex top?

Would really appreciate your input. Thanks!

They are fairly middle of the range. I have heard good and bad reports about them.

To be honest you would be more likely to get moore for your money with an independent manufacturer.

Unfortunately trying out a bed for 10 mins in a shop can only give you a very rough idea. You really need to sleep on a mattress for a few nights to be 100% sure. So what is more important than having a showroom where you can lay on the bed is a seller with a good return policy with a satisfaction guarantee

You will get far more for your money with smaller independent manufacturers, and they will be less likely to use loads of useless sales gimmicks

Rest Assured, Sealy, Silentnight, the Pocket Sprung Bed Company and Layezee are all the same company. You really need to look them up in these forums.

Out of interest, how long has your friend had their Rest Assured?

The best type of mattress for back support is pocket sprung with memory foam, or with latex if you want to go for the natural option, but this could be far more expensive. If you go for a non turn mattress then you may have to modify the bed, but if it is a two sided mattress then you should be fine with gaps of up to 3".

How firm do you like your mattress?

Thanks, thought I'd try it out in the shop, so I could decide on which one to order & properly try out

    Point taken, I'll look round.

Didn't realise Rest Assured was, but had seen earlier in this thread that some of the others were. Not too long (a few months, I think) & that's why I was a bit dubious, plus he's completely different to me, but was going to visit him soon & thought I might push him & his wife out of his bed & try it out for the night!!!

Thanks, pocket sprung with memory foam it is then, I'll do some research. Medium really, like to feel a bit of give rather than it being rock solid, but probably more leaning towards the firmer side than being too soft.

    Thanks for your time

You shouldn't find good quality memory foam mattresses that are soft. This is because memory foam must be high density to work properly, and give you the support it is designed to.

Thanks for your reply. We have already put a deposit down on the "Cairo" mattress in Dreams. I believe this is made by Sleepeezee.

We need something quite firm. I can't sleep on soft mattress. We tried this in the shop and seemed fine. The sale assistant said that this was one of the best mattresses in the shop (Dreams). I suppose we can change the mattress as it is not fully paid and delivered. Do you think there would be better makes that we can choose in Dreams?

    Your reply is much appreciated.
