What about this and you pay the extra £50?

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6601764/Trail/searchtext%3EREST+ASSURED+POCKET+MEMORY+MATTRESS.htm What do other people think?

Unless there is something good at http://www.bedlum-beds.co.uk/ Check it out! ;)

I wouldn't trust a company that has no reviews on the internet. I'm all for independents but I'd prefer to go with the safety of buying from Argos especially when the only reviews for Bedlum beds are on ebay or on their own website. I've looked for the brands they sell too and can't seem to find anything.

I don't think you'll be disappointed. It's a fantastic buy backed by 100+ independent positive reviews all over the interweb :j

Just to give another positive review of Bedlum-Beds.

I researched the threads in the forum before purchasing a new mattress for a guest bed. In the end I went for the La ROMANTICA, Jolie from Bedlum Beds for £90 delivered. As Bedlum Beds have a satisfaction guarantee I did not see it a risk ordering online. The bed was delivered on time with minimum of fuss and good communication.I am very happy with it indeed and think it represents excellent value for money. I also went round a number of bed shops to look at different mattresses. Comparable mattresses from the big bed shops (e.g Dreams, Bensons) were £150+.

After not wanting any memory foam I ended up buying a 4"V60 memory foam/4" reflex foam mattress. I know you're not keen on them Tim but after going back and trying the organic latex mattress and the pocket sprung 2 1/2" memory foam, I just didn't find either of them comfortable enough. Because I need to change position regularly when in pain I need something softer, so when I roll onto my side I don't have to wait for my arm/leg to sink in the same depth as my torso... after testing this on both mattresses I found that I had pulled a muscle in my shoulder :o The 8" foam mattress just offered me that extra bit of softness I need.

We've ordered this one. They offered me the display mattress (with new cover) for £659 and threw in two MF pillows (£50) and free (£30) delivery... which is good as we live about 12 miles from the shop. Because it's the display one it's been well aired, so no chemical sensitivity worries and I get it delivered by Wednesday.

Things have been a bit hectic & stressful lately so I'm just glad to not have to think about a mattress any more.

Thanks for all your help Tim

In deep indecision about what mattress to get can anyone advise on the relative pros and cons of these mattresses? Unfortunately I can't post links so can only give descriptions.

M&S M300 kingsize, which is currently reduced from £499 to £349 (Product Code: T398992)

Kozeesleep (Yorks) Caversham kingsize, can get for £299

Dreamwork Sussex Deluxe 1000, kingsize £299

    Many thanks!
  • Thanks for everyone for their advice. I have just gone for this mattress:

    http://www.bedkingdom.co.uk/MATTRESSES/Single-Mattresses/La-Romantica-Venice-Mattress1/

I have gone for it as a double bed with divan draws for me and a single bed mattress for my mum. I hope its as comfy as the ones we tried in Dreams... I had to go with the above site as their prices are so competitive and they offer free delivery. I will let others know how I get on with Bed Kingdom when they deliver next week...

  • i have ordered bunk beds for my two children 3yrs and 6yrs, slatted base(not sure of gap btween slats) do you think £300 for each mattress is too excessive for this age? ive been looking at the La Romantica Madrid. Also seen a decent one at John Lewis for a bit less.

Have read loads of pages about mattresses ( never knew it could be so complicated ), basically comes down to this, thinking of buying this one
    http://www.mattressnextday.co.uk/mattress/368/Sleepeezee-Pocket-Serene/
Obvoius questions are, is it a reasonable quality mattress and is it a reasonable price. Have read about 50 pages of Tim Deegans epic mattress thread and obviously if i had more cash i'd maybe go for something else. If anyone has any recommendations on a similar budget feel free to let me know.

Thanks for your explanation regarding pocket and open sprung mattresses. I am stuck with the slatted base so wondered what type of mattress you would recommend with it?
As I said earlier I need a 140 x 200 double euro size mattress so i was looking for a better ikea one but the hustad is pocket spring.
They also do foam mattresses which i think are designed more for slatted bases but they are thinner meaning a lower bed and i just thought they were worse than sprung ones?
