It clearly says that you can't return it if it is opened. You can send it back within seven days if it is unopened. This just complies with distance selling regs.

Have you any idea how much it would cost to return once it has benn unpacked?

It's a big risk to take when they could just turn around and say "we didn't say that, read the t&c's".[/QUOTE]

it would be if i was worried, but im not. thats exactly why i called them and asked my questions. she also confirmed it on email.

They must be getting desperate for sales then to make such a huge change to their policy.

    Also, as I asked:
Have you any idea how much it would cost to return once it has been unpacked?
  • Found out I cant return the soft ikea mattress as its been over 3 months. So I'm going to have to buy a new one which is a bit firmer and use the existing one for the spare room.

I have a couple of questions... the mattress I think would be suitable is sultan hustad £137 for a double. This has pocket springs instead of bonel springs like the heberg I've got now. What is the difference?

Also is it ok for a spring mattress to go straight onto slats?

    Thanks
  • they said about 60 quid but i can get done through my firm for nearer 40.

If you did it privately thaen you would be looking at well over £100 (for a king size). If you want to send it through your firm you would have to make sure that the courier would take mattresses, because most couriers won't take full size mattresses. This is why some manufacturers vacuum pack and roll them up.

If you can picture lots of individual springs standing upright, and each spring is within a fabric pocket, well that’s what pocket sprung means. Each spring on it's own isn't actually very firm, but because there are so many they give you excellent support due to the fact that they contour to your body.

Open coil means that there are usually only around 360 springs (for a double mattress). Each of the springs is linked together within a wire frame. These are the traditional type of springs that are usually cheaper than pocket sprung.

Pocket sprung only mattresses aren't really suitable for slatted bases because the springs try to push down between the slats. This can damage the springs. However you can lay a sheet of hardboard (or pegboard) over the slats to spread the weight out.

With only £300 to spend you would be better off going for a good quality pocket sprung only mattress.

My new bed arrived this morning. What, if anything, should I check to make sure it's OK? Obviously the ticking to make sure there are no marks etc. Anything else?
