I guess this in reference to the 1400 representing a good buy in comparison to the 2500 spring
Yes, sorry I should have explained. Although I still normally advise to go for independent manufacturers. It is for a bedstead gaps are 1.5"
Hmm.....that should be ok, as long as it is no more than 1.5"0 -
Hi
I am looking at the below Millbrook Vista 2500 and can get it for £397.00
In the kingsize mattress there are 2500 individually hand nested pocket springs, and is filled with wool, silk polyester and cotton fillings for comfort and support. The Vista 2500 mattress is hand tufted with woolen tufts and has 8 handles as well as 16 brass air vents to help increase ventilation around the mattress. Suitable for a wide range of divan bases, or bedsteads.
After reading some of the posts....I don't have a spare 2-3 days I guess this maybe over the top spring wise, so would this be a wiser buy at £310.00
Millbrook Mirage 1400 Mattress
1400 individually hand nested pocket springs
2 rows of hand side stitching to borders
8 Upholstered flag stitched handles
16 brassed ventilators
Hypo allergenic interliner
Luxurious layer of resilient Polyester/Cotton
Topped with layer of soft lambswool
Tufted with jiffy ties and wool washers
Twofold Jacquard woven damask
Any advice is most welcome
These two models have been around for some time now, 3 or 4 years to my knowledge. My recollections are that the Mirage has quite a soft feel so if that suits you then save your money. The Vista is quite a bit firmer, and has a beefier look, if you see the two side by side the Vista looks more substantial. This is on going promotional range that use random ticks (covers) Either should be fine on your slats.0 -
Can anyone recommend where to get the best beds?
Dreams have a sale on at the moment.
Going for a double to kingsized wooden framed bed with underbed storage.
Thanks0 -

Ok thanks, I bought a sealy many years ago and it was good now it seems that that would be a bad Idea, I thought Millbrook were one of the better big bed makers.Hmm.....that should be ok, as long as it is no more than 1.5"
Ok thanks0 -

Ok thanks so these mattreses from Millbrook are more or less specials rather than a range item that has a good reduction on them.
As I am quite a big chap 6'4" and 17.5 stone on a good day should I avoid the softer beds? at the moment I am using a firm mattress at the moment but I get quite bad shoulder and neck pains when I sleep on it.0 -

Dreams have a sale on at the moment....I'm shocked.
By all means have a look at them but do yourself a favour and try and find some smaller established independent retailers in your area (& the net) to compare with.
Don't be sucked in by '50% off' at the big chains or 'sale must end this Monday' etc. You need a mattress too?0 -

I would suggest that the Mirage would be too soft for you but ultimately it's for you to decide. Do you know what type mattress you have already?
These two mattresses started out as 'specials' but Millbrook have kept them going, so have obviously proved popular and are only avaialble in the popular sizes. Sometimes their catalogue models may have even more ingredients, maybe offered in a choice of spring tension and will also be available in custom sizes.0 -

I'm somewhat concerned by the fact that there is, and will be, a dartboard over my bed. This leads to people kneeling on the edge to retrieve their darts, and this is with a standard single. Is this likely to have a major impact on the life of a bed?
I guess if I went for a wider bed, as seems likely, there will be less kneeling directly on the edge as you'd have more to climb over. xD0
