    Tim,

It wasn't pocket springs, there was one of those but it was out of our price range.

It wasn't encapsulated, I asked about that after reading on here that they may retain the heat.

I don't know the density, but you could deffinately feel foam, not springs.

    It's £245 - am I allowed to say that?

It sounds like open coil sprung with memory foam then.

You would need to find out more specifications.
  • Hi there Tim and others,
I wonder if you can help? I have slept on a friend's bed a few times and found it to be comfortable. It is an IKEA Sultan Hasselback. I wanted to buy one for my own bed however my bed is a small double (190cm x 120cm) - a size which IKEA don't do.

Can you recommend a mattress with a similar feel to it that would come in the size I need?

    Thanks.

Our Rest Assured Sanctuary Essence Super King arrived last week and I thought I'd just write up a short note about it in case it ever helps anyone.

So far, extremely good, gone is the backache that both DH and I were getting. It makes you feel as if you are being well supported and is very comfortable.

I was a little worried about the pillow top aspect of it but it is a fairly thin layer held in place by the concealed tuft bits and I don't think there is enough of it to go flat and lumpy over time, but I guess I will find out on that one !

The key thing I found with the whole bed buying process was how essential it is to go round to various places and try out the various combinations of beds. We tried pocket springs, pocket springs with mini springs, pocket spring with memory foam, pocket spring with latex, pocket springs with mini springs and latex (which we bought), memory foam and probably some more but I lost track in the end. We also tried out various mattresses on sprung divan bases and slatted bases. I'd gone out convinced that we would want a pocket spring with memory foam but in reality neither DH or I liked them and much preferred mattresses with latex.

I really hope your mattress gives you good service for a long time, but from what you have just said you have been fed loads of hype and gimmicks by the sales reps.

    10% off - 3267 just worked online.
    Thanks everyone anyway. x
    Hi Greenstuff (or anyone else),

Where did you find the discount code for Warren Evans beds? Was it on this site?

Fingers crossed it will. We didn't get into discussions with the various salesmen (had a few problems getting left alone to try in peace in Dreams but did in the end) went on what we found to be the most comfortable for us, whilst being aware of the gimics that there are out there, thanks to this thread. I'm well aware it is non-turn, has a pillow top, mini springs etc but we both felt it stood out from all the other oneswe tried so have taken an informed risk, we'll have to see if it stands the test of time.

My very convoluted point is the importance of spending time actually trying various mattresses and not necessarily having a preconceived idea of what you want as we originally did ie. being convinced that we would want pocket spring and memory foam, as you may find you prefer something different when you actually get out there trying things out.

    What guarantee did you get?
  • Hi Tim ,

Can you reccomend a mattress / bed for me .Currently got a 5' 4 drawer divan so for the storage space would like a direct replacement had it for 6 years and now I have strated to feel a few aches in the morning in the lower half of my back . Would like a mattress so I dont want feel movement from the mrs and also no roll together oh and she has a history of back problems (trapped nerves ). Price isn't a problem but from what you say 1000 for a bed is over priced anyway so I should see some change from that .Im 17st and the mrs is 9st so its a bit like that ad from a few tears back with the hippo and the chick cant remember the manufracturer though ..... from the sound of it memory foam is out of the question as the mrs hates a warm bed ....

    ta
  • forgot to ask what do you have as a bed ?

I can't actually recommend a bed on MSE. However it sounds like you need a pocket sprung mattress (forget the one with the hippo). Try and stay between 1000 and 1800 pocket springs.

Try and go for a smaller independent manufacturer rather than the big brands, as you will get far more for your money.

How firm do you like your bed?

    I can't say what bed I have....sorry:confused:
