Thanks for the prompt reply. I know this mattress comes with a free luxury maxicool cover, so I'm not sure whether this would make a difference.

I do try to get some sleep occasionally.
I presume maxicool is another brand of coolmax. To be honest it is really a bit of a gimmick. It takes the moisture away from your body, but that moisture has to go somewhere, so it would just build up in the memory foam.0 -

You could always say they're good now but, should you decide to carry them, start slagging them off. That should balance things out.0

Hi Tim, Sorry I have no idea what the mattress is made of.
I must be a soft mattress. Not too good either as you tend to want to roll right off the end of the bed if you lie too close too the edge.0 -

Where does it state that you cant mention or reccomend companies ?
if anything look at section 9.1 of the T&cs
9.1 We encourage debate and the sharing of information between our users.
Now to me thats all you would be doing ? Seems a bit strange why you wouldn't want to do that ........:o0 -

If you read the whole thread you will see why.....sorry my hands are tied0 -
It does seem rather ridiculous not being able to recommend a certain brand/manufacturer/product just because you happen to be in the industry. I can understand if you actually sold the product in question but otherwise... Assuming it hasn't been already (I can't remember if it's been stated in this thread), how would you go about acquiring clarification on the matter from an official source?0

As I am in the industry all I am allowed to do is give general advice on specifications, and warning about hype and gimmicks etc... I am happy to tell people the plus and minus points about any products that I am allowed, but please don't ask me to recommend anything, otherwise the post will just be removed.
It may not actually be written down in the rules, but I just get slated if I go outside the above.0 -
For the benefit of new MSE members and anyone who hasn't read all the posts in this thread, the quote below explains what is (and what is not) permitted.
Please don't try to encourage members to advertise or promote their goods or website, whether by posting on the site or via private messages.

The user Tim Deegan has been helping people on these boards for almost 2 years and many people have benefitted from his experience and advice in the area of beds and mattresses. However, some users feel that he has been promoting his own company and have complained to Abuse. We have been dealing with these complaints but apparently, this has not been enough for some users and now we have counter complaints about harassment and victimisation. It seems that some site users have been going out of their way to follow Tim and others around and comment on his every post. We have been gathering information regarding some of these accounts and if the reports regarding AEs being created to harass other users are true, we will ban all accounts involved. We would hope that people take this hint and conduct themselves in an appropriate manner.
Quite frankly folks, this situation is ridiculous and is wasting our resources so let us be clear from now on:
Posters (and this applies to everyone) will not use any terms that indicate they have a business related to the topic. For example, statements like “I'm not allowed to advertise here but..." or “I’d provide a link but it’s against the site rules” etc. could be misconstrued as subtle advertisements and must not be used. If someone asks about your credentials, it’s enough to say “I have worked in the industry for x years”. Links to images on your own website are similarly banned.
On the complaints side, if you have a problem with a post, report it to Abuse. After that, the responsibility is ours to deal with it. If the post remains unchanged, you can therefore assume that the post is allowable. You do not need to keep reporting it or others like it.10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j [/COLOR]:cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. I've read that before and I'm not sure it helps much. >.<Tim_Deegan wrote: »It may not actually be written down in the rules, but I just get slated if I go outside the above.
Apologies if I'm coming across as a bit of a nutter. I may well be suffering from chronic bed hunting fatigue. _pale_
Back to bed questions:
Does the number of turns in a spring make a difference? I read something about it in this mattress guide (rather American centric and mostly about open sprung mattresses, so a lot doesn't apply). Is it even realistic to expect to find that out for most beds?0
