  • Ahhh, I see. What would the best spring count be for a king size mattress to be used on a flexible slatted bedstead?

The spring count should really be between 1000 and 1800. However you should lay a sheet of peg board or hard board over the slats.
  • No one has an opinion on Highgate? They appear to be small and independent which I guess is generally a good thing but whether they're actually any good...

In one of the bed shops I went into I noticed a lot of the beds had 'contract' or 'contract range' on them. This means they're designed for hotels etc. right? Should this have any impact on whether I consider them or not? I'm not even sure if they'd let me try them. ^_^

If I'm asking for a custom size e.g 3'6"x6'6" is it still right to expect to be able to return it no questions asked? It seems a big ask to me even if it would be good.

You should really do a forum search for the manufacturer.

Thanks for your helpful advice. I did however do a search on the manufacturer before I posted.

I wanted to know what people thought about the price seeing as though I have no idea what mattresses cost. I thought the boards were a way of seeking advice of other people ???
  • I think what Tim meant was that any brand that is part of the SilentNight group (the Sealy brand is used under license by SilentNight in the UK) is best avoided - both for quality and customer service issues (at least, that appears to be the common wisdom here - not that I'm arguing). A search would reveal that. :)

It's probably hard to judge the price anyway, without more info, e.g. type and model.
  • Alright Tim,what do u reckon to the Reylon matress and the Chic model version if u know of it and your personal opinion of them? thanks

Contract beds and mattresses are made to a higher fire retardant standard, and are usually slightly harder wearing. However I wouldn't bother paying the extra (usually around 10%).

Bespoke sizes wouldn't normally be covered by any satisfaction guarantee.

Please restrict questions to general specifications rather than individual models. I will only get slated if I say anything at all negative about anything.
