1. Has too many springs (try to stay between 1000 and 1800). 70mm of memory foam is a little too deep, but should be ok if you like being warm in bed. What is the density of the memory foam?
Why do you say 2000 springs is too much? We're looking to buy a spring/visco-elastic foam combo. Does the number of springs dictate the "firmness" or comfort? Is there a significant difference between 1000 and 1800? Very interested in the Romantica Madrid but a little concerned about prices. Had a look in dreams and equivalent mattresses appear to be £750+ (even in their supposed sale!). Why is the Madrid (which appears to be recommended as top of the range) so much cheaper? Is it any lower quality?
Thanks

What kind of quality do Highgate offer? I see they've been mentioned in this thread a couple of times but no comment on if they're actually any good.
The reason I ask is because I was trying one out today - I think it called itself a Silk1000, which I can't even find on their website (old model?). Unfortunately I forgot to ask if it was non-turn and on getting home I see that it is. In my defence it was the third bed shop I'd been in and I was getting a bit jaded at that point.
Still, if they're good I can look into any turnable mattresses they do and I would hopefully be able to try them out locally (for what that's worth).0 -
Just hoping for abit of advice.
I have noticed on the Centerparcs website that if you have slept in one of their new sealy beds you can purchase 1 directly through centerparcs. We went in December and the bed was complete heaven !!!
We are in desperate need for a new mattress and they are selling a double mattress for £399. To be honest when I saw the price I thought it would have been abit higher. Is this a good price and are sealy a good mattress ?
Thanks0 -
Never looked back since we got a pocket sprung mattress. OH fidgets and I don't even notice it now.A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition~ William Arthur Ward ~0

Hi Tim
I thought that the higher the spring count (for pocket springs) the better so am a little confused by your quote.Andyfr0 -

That's what many sellers will tell you to get you to spend more.
More than 800 pocket springs in a king size mattress is enough to do what pocket springs are designed to do. However if a mattress has too many springs then they have to be very small to fit them all in the mattress, so they can get damaged easily.0
