    Hi Tim,

I'm still searching for that perfect bed :D

Am I likely to find anything better than the Super KS La Romantica Venice divan set for under £1000? Also what is the difference between platform top and sprung edge divans?

    Thanks

  • This is an excellent thread with some really useful advice and information on what to look out for when buying a bed/mattress, especially from Tim, who I would like to thank for being so helpful. However, it is a very lengthy thread and having read it from beginning to end, I wish I had thought to make notes as I went along because by the time I had finished reading it all, I had forgotten much of the advice given, such as density of foam and spring count etc. Therefore, I was wondering Tim, if it might be be a good idea and if possible, for you to write a buyers guide which could be placed at the top of the first page, under the heading? I'm sure it would be helpful to many, if all the information could be found in one place rather than having to keep searching through all the thread.

Sprung edge means there is a layer of springs on top of the base. A platform top base has a hard top.

I could, but it would be pages long in order to cover everything. Also I can't put it on the first page.
  • Oh well, it was only a suggestion and no doubt if it was possible, you would have already done it.

I have never tried that model mattress, however there are a couple of things you should know about it.

This type of mattress does not contain full size pocket springs. They are much smaller springs athat are encapsulated in reflex foam, so you get very little (if any at all) benefit from the pocket springs. They are really there so that they can call it a pocket sprung mattress.

While doing a search for this mattress I actually found one seller who used the hand imprint picture that is used to demonstrate memory foam. This mattress doesn't contain any memory foam at all, it is basically a cheap reflex foam mattress with a few very small springs added.......yet another gimmick

This is a similar design to the other one.

You are better off going for a good quality open coil sprung mattress rather than a low quality pocket sprung one.
