Right! I've done some form of spreadsheet.

    I get £110 a week, £10 board leaving me with £100.

Budget of £50 to spend each week, which should more than last me. I'm taking it out of the bank every friday, then if I have any left the next week I'll just top my wallet up to £50, so if I have £10 in my wallet I'll only get £40 out.
In an idea world I want to save £50 a week, then at the end of the month my £30 phone bill will come out of that.

I've put it as a list in my filofax because lists seem to have some sort of control over me.

    hey Cinny!
Just thought i would say that I've just found your thread and have been reading through it and you sound great! You may not be doing so well with all of the things youve bought (whether strictly needed or not ;)) but you deffo have your head screwed on and you at least have a plan to save!!
Lists are great and so are targets - personally I don't get spreadsheets but I hear they are good too so you're on track!
Just wondering though, do you study as well? - might have been in the first post sorry f I missed it! or is this the only job you do sort of thing because 29 hours is quite a lot!!!!!
sorry if that sounds rude but I hope you know what I mean :) I'm a 19yo student and I really want to save and I am trying, but it just doesnt seem to be working so well atm :(
    Keep on posting,
    Tink

    hi tinkerbel!

No I don't study, I'm planning on starting an afternoon course in either september or in the new year, but when I turn 19 I can apply for a work place NVQ, so I'm tossing between the two! I was homeschooled so I started here as soon as I turned 16.

Good luck with your saving! It must be pretty hard as a student, my boyfriend was always strapped for cash when he was on his uni course last year. Have you checked out the student bit of the forum?

Money saving plans for the weekend!

Friday - Make your own subways.

Me and My BF are going to try to recreate our favourite subways, and hopefully for less but either way we'll have fun and save £££ by not going to the cinema or out for dinner. Pass the Reggae Sauce!

Saturday - Take the pooch out for a mooch.

My BF has work on saturday afternoon so for something to do in the morning we're taking our jack russell for a wander, its free, its exercise and our dog will love it too!

While he's at work I'm going to make a picnic for sunday, just sandwiches and homemade buns, it should cost me nothing.

Sunday - Picnic at a NT house.

Take the picnic and pick a house! We're members so it's free. If you take in petrol costs the day will cost us £5. not bad at all really! Plus we get to feel slightly cultured and alittle bit british too.

anyone got any MS plans for their weekend?

Hey, thanks for replying! That's cool about the homeschooling and such, I would go for the NVQ thing, I have met lots of older people who always tell me to take every oppertunity to learn and do things offered to me because they regret not doing it so go on, sign up! Also, if you do, you will perhaps have more work to do to study for it, so you'll go out and therefore spend less maybe!?

Your weekend sounds ace, you are obv much more organised than me! MS wise for me, I had a carboot sale today, tomorrow I will look on gumtree and answer some adverts maybe, phone the bank and sort some stuff out, try not to spend anything! That's about it really though lol. ill report back later!!

I think that's the one i'm going to go for, the other woman who works in the office is doing it and enjoying it. The only downside is that I can't do any other office skills before hand. Or something like that.

I love doing carboots! so tempting to walk around and buy tat though. I've just resisted the temptation of some stunning vintage dresses so I'm feeling quite good. Need to phone my bank in abit too.

what is it you're looking for on gumtree? Or is it stuff you've put up?

(Just read your saving to go to disneyland!! Good luck!)

hey lol well I was saving for disneyland, but we went and got back last week, so now its more saving to pay off the rest of what we spent there!! Its just my £10 per day challenge money.
On gumtree I'm just looking for some little jobs and bits really, see if theres anything going lol.
Maybe the NVQ "can't learn more office skills" is just so that you learn them at the rate they want you to and in the right order, i have no idea though!
You know, you should use online banking. you always say you have to phone the bank for a balance but onlline banking is so easy :T and I like it because mine is linked to a savings account so I can manually make transfers at any time of the day and - you dont have to pay for the phone call ;)

That's a good idea, I'll look into it when I go to open my savings account (going next wednesday when I work in the afternoons) I'm abit cheeky actually and phone my bank from work. I always check with the main boss man (AKA my dad) before hand though.

Did you go to disney land paris or america? My sister desperately wants to go because of the high school musical bits (she's 20) saying that, I'm a secret lover of HSM myself so I shouldn't comment :o

Right! My bank balance is £187. I've still got £15 to go back in from the stuff I returned to matalan yesterday.
I've got £43 in my purse (Grandad gave me £40 on wednesday)
Need to take £40 out the bank to pay my board + phone bill.
Leaving me with about £140 untouched till next week (here's hoping)
Shouldn't spend too much in morrisons later for the subway challenge, most of the stuff we want is on that 50p deal. Or on the weekend as everything is pre-paid for. Have a great weekend everyone!

Going into town tomorrow to get some new fabric and some cheap dress patterns then crank out the old sewing machine!! Hoping to find some kind of tin for my cakes and biscuits too. Hopefully there will be some vintage pyrex knocking about! Normally about 50p - £1 for the cutest prints. Setting off early to beat the saturday crowds in town. but hopefully not to early to miss the people bringing their new tat in :T

Went and got my bits! Got 2 vintage dress patterns, one from 1964 and the other from 1972 for 69p each, Got a vintage bedspread for £2.99 which has enough material for 1 dress, a skirt and maybe a totebag. A zip to match for 49p and a set of vintage hooks for 10p. The woman in the charity shop said there are alot more people going in and getting patterns now, I noticed as they've gone from having a massive box to having about 20. Starting work on them in abit, if they turn out alright I'll have 'new outfits for under £5 (kind of)

Also got a book i've been after for awhile, I capture the castle, for £1.59 :T saved about £5 from buying it new.
