probably cost about £300-£350 between us, including spending money and most of that was on petrol. Just an idea and to say it can be done rather cheaply so don't write the idea off completely!!
Sounds like you had fun! We'd have to stay in the UK though, unless I renew my passport. Plus there's always coach holidays, which are fairly cheap. My mum and dad are going to Tuscany for 9 days for £390 each.
Still haven't done the bloody pattern yet! My sisters new bed came yesterday so I was helping her set it up most of the afternoon. BF is over this afternoon so I can't do it then either. On the other hand, I was on ebay last night and got a lovely vintage laura ashley dress for £7.22 (£4.22 before postage)
Got £5 to last me until friday *fingers crossed*0 -
awesome, thats a good deal!! i dont think that £5 is not doable because really, you're at work half the time and on here half the time.. oops, i mean *some* of the time and you have stuff to keep you occupied really like your dress and stuff. whats the savings figure at now btw?0

have you ever thought about doing a regular saver so it comes out as soon as you get paid? or are you paid cash in hand? because if you never see it, you can't spend it. Like I've advised a family member, they have an overdraft of £950 with no charges for 12 months because theyve just switched to A&L and theyre always in it to the max. Thing is, they're now getting an extra £200 a month they weren't used to. So I said instead of spending that money every month and getting used to it and still being £950 in your overdraft when you start getting charged. How about you put £80 of it a month into a regular saver, they'd still be getting £120 more than they were used to a month, then in 12 months time that £80 a month will pay off their £950 overdraft and therefore no charges incurred. If money is taken at the source, you never miss it as much? I don't, you're left with a certain amount and you know that's all you can spend. From what I'm seeing though, you're living on a far tighter budget than me so if this isn't suitable ignore me and carry on doing what you're doing so well :T0

My bank account is about £125 now, with nothing coming out nor going in until friday. After I've paid what I owe on friday I'll be getting £95, so fingers crossed I'll have £230. My goal for the week after is to have £250 saved up. Then I'm going to send £50 to my mums bank account so I can get some bits off ebay to treat myself... again.
villafan- My wages go straight into my bank account, when my wages go up in september I was thinking of having all the extra put into a savings account (it's only £20 but it'll add up). I still need to get my finger out and set one up! I'm off tomorrow morning so I'm going to set up an online account and hopefully be able to do the savings account online and shift most of my money into there. Well that's what the site says I can do anyways, it might be a completely different matter in the morning
Me and the bf (aka Frank) are making our own pizzas this afternoon, nipping into morrisons on the way home to get some toppings, should be fun!! Oh, and £5 isn't really a budget, it's just what I have in my purse so I'm going to try to limit myself to spending only that and not get money from the bank. Wanting to treat Frank to a take away on friday night, so I'm going to see if there's anything I can do for some extra pennys. I can't really call a take away a treat as much as a tiny push in the direction of morbid obesity:D0 -
Hmm I totally second that whole, take the money before you see it/get used to it thing. It really works and makes you not get used to it. Like the boy is going to increase his OD but hopefully put the extra £200 into a savings account straight away so that he isnt used to having it (and maybe a bit extra so he can pay it back when he needs to in about a year..)
Cinny I know its boring and stuff but if I want somme stuff from ebay I pushmyself to do some surveys that pay in paypal and go on slice the pie for a bit to earn a bit into my paypal, and then spend that sort of thing, I know you might be too young to have paypal without breaking the t&cs but you could do it into your mums maybe?
Also for a takeaway, my ideas, A) suggest he treats you orget one of those meal for 2 deals from a supermarket!?
Just ideas!
I'm not doing too much today, looking for some temp jobs and stuff but nothings coming up and people arent emailing me back!:mad:0 -
Cinny, sign yourself up to www.topcashback.co.uk as well. If you're adamant on buying from Ebay, go to Ebay via the cashback site and you'll take 40% off any profit Ebay make from what you buy. (That isn't the price you pay but what ebay earn from when the items were listed by the seller). These are all good ways of making money/earning money back on what you spend. There are thousands of retailers that have links with the cashback site.0

I put £250, i meant £200!
Most of that will be spent though. (got my baking eyes set on a kenwood mixer, wanted one since i was a kid!)
Thanks for the link villafan, and i'm looking up that slice the pie too tinkerbel! Just signing up to both. Sould save / earn me afew pence. I think I signed up to onepoll, or something like that awhile now, I'll have to check up on that and try to top up my balance.
We've decided to leave the take away this week, we're both living on kind of tight budgets. But I'm going to surprise him with one of those take away oven meals for one (thanks for the idea tinkerbel!) He works really hard for little money so i like getting him little surprises.0 -
Just checked and I have £3.70 on my onepoll account. Not bad!0

totally off topic but you and Frank sound like such a cute couple!0

Good luck! The BF has been searching for a job for 4 months now, and only come up with 2 interviews. (I pushed for him to be a milkman but he refused, I thought it would be fun and got abit giddy at the thought of possible free milk) Hopefully something will come up soon!0
