Chinny91 I think you are being sensible I wish I was at your age I wouldn't have gotten any credit cards, gone on expensive around the world holidays etc etc etc.
Impulse buying cravings only last a while once you get out of that habbit the rest is easy as you start to see the money building up in your account. One problem with my savings is the bank offers me a bigger overdraft lololol. You are doing well and I hope to god that other 17 yr olds start thinking down the same lines as you.
xx gud luck to ya xx:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Miss No Money Pennies :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -

Thank you! I'm ringing the bank up in when it opens to check my balance. I had just over £150 yesterday, but seeing how my parents are away this weekend I took it upon myself to do the 'big shop' Managed to get enough food to feed 6 of us (Me, my brother and sister + 3 hangers on) for under £15 :T did some major meal planning so I didn't waste any money.
My savings will be scrapped this week, My mum wants a puppy and my dad has agreed for me and my elder sister to go and pick one up this weekend. (A Terrier X)0 -
I know you're right Sooler, and I am trying hard to change my ways, by not going into town all the time is my first step, my next is to avoid the internet shops!
I'm now off to look at the old timers forums to find out how to cook for less-I'm so impressed you've managed to be organised I are feeding 6 of you for a weekend on £15. I have so much to learn...
PS enjoy the puppy-I'm hopefully having 6 eggs hatch this weekend!0 -
Well we had afew bits in so I just planned meals around what we had, we had pasta and meatballs in spicey sauce saturday night (fed 5 and cost £2) Last night was jacket potatoes and mince, which was £3 + £1 for oxo cubes. Tonight is pizzas which for 3 for £4. then on top of that was bread, yoghurts ect.
But after that we spent about £10 on icecream, pop (brands like dr pepper and fanta are £1 for a big bottle in asda) and crisps. Cant expect mum to pay for our snacking.
Dreading ringing the bank up later! I took £70 out for the puppy, and had about three £10 trips to asda for puppy pads, puppy food and junk food. Now with a bunch of vet bills coming up for my kitten and cat I'm going to have to re-think my savings!0 -
Don't give up Cinny91!
Lots of things jump out to stop the savings going as planned (I now have to pay to have the flashing done on my roof, so this months £250 savings has gone already!), but keep on trying! Any savings (even £5!) are better than debts...I hope!
Have a good week, mine is starting off badly, need to fill up with petrol today, but I will be going to the petrol station during "happy hour" when you get 3p off per litre!0 -
ah yes living - you have to balance saving with actually living - but if you do spend it's better to spend on things that are worthwhile rather than impulse buys from shops in town. I'm sure the possible holiday and new puppy will enrich your life far far more than that bag you bought because you saw it and just had to have it.
You could class the puppy and holiday as investments - as you'll get something out of them. Things to look back on in life. Can't say the same for a bag.0 -
I admit, I could of been abit stronger on the bag front! But I've been using it alot since I got it so I'm not seeing it as a waste just yet.
I'd be proud of myself if I reach my £500 goal, but I know I'll be just as proud, if not more, if I can cover my pets vets bills and pay for my own holiday.
Me and my boyfriend are planning on going away in December so we're looking at cottages to rent where we can go on walks with our jack russell, Izzy, so that'll mean we wont be spending too much £££ while we're there.0 -
Gggrrrrr! I've just gone to buy chick crumbs for my new hatchlings, which came to £3.34, then discovered that to pay by card I needed to spend over £10! I should be taking money out of the hole in the wall and only spending cash. I'm sure my dog will appreciate the big bone I bought her though as a result!!0
-
I've never got caught like that before but if I did I know I'd just go round and top the price up too! I'm sure your pup will love the bone, and atleast you know for next time!
I needed some new shirts for work, so I went and got 2 smart price ones for £2.50. Planning on using some Gok Wan fashion fix style thinking to spruce them up abit. Saved about £10 there.
Me and my boyfriend have started the mother of all sealed penny tubs. We're trying to fill it before december, then putting it towards our holiday.0
