• I've spent two evenings fruitlessly trying to download Office 2010 from Software 4 Students (Kaspersky downloaded but I already had Norton)...an error kept on coming up saying my laptop disk space was too small (not the case). Emailed them asking for a hard copy instead but I have had no answer...as per the website of course...I can't wait for 21 days to get a corrupt copy (pirated?!) - I'm off on a research trip next week so I need it to load on my new laptop...Pugh was recommended but stupidly I went for this company as being cheaper...it does seem like a scam.

..and yet here is a large thread suggesting that it isn't. (and I'm looking at my copy of win 7 pro purchased from there)

I didn't know SoS offered a download service (like digital river), but I'm guessing they've sent you the product key already? if they have there are plenty of places to download the ISO from.

• Thanks again to MSE for allowing us to post here.

We deal with thousands of customers a month and always strive to give the best customer experience. Whilst the overwhelming majority of our customers enjoy the benefit of discounted software and a great service, we understand that very occasionally a small proportion of customers experience a delay in their order or have technical difficulty downloading/installing their software.

We work hard to resolve any issues that arise in a timely manner. We have a team of support agents who are on hand to take your queries should they arise.

If you have any outstanding queries please call our support line on 020 7193 5335 and we’ll be happy to help, or e-mail us at support@software4students.co.uk

We have been running the Software4Students programme with Microsoft for the last 5 years. We have had a huge amount of requests for a download service and have been working with Microsoft to offer downloads for the last year. We started offering the service in May and so far it has been very well received as the fastest way to deliver software (you can also always receive media instead if that is your preferred option).

We really appreciate the support of our many customers.

Many thanks

A teacher at a computer course told me about software4students, its a way for you to get cheaper software if your are a student or have any kids or grandkids who go to school or college. Although you do have to prove it for some of the stuff.

I have now bought 2 microsoft office pro and 1 windows 7 and so far have had no problems (touch wood). went for disc's instead of downloads and it arrived within 5 days. At under £40 each its definitely a bargain.
• Got to agree with most of the above comments.

My wife was a full time student so we were eligable for Windows 7 Ultimate. Came quick, came at a huge markdown and I was mightly impressed.
They have had occasions in the past where some buyers were not happy, but it seems a rare occurance!

Shame my wife is no longer eligable, otherwise we would have bought Office 2010 already!

• Well, since it looks like you're more active here than on email, can I please know where my order is? The money's been taken from my account - no notification on when I'm going to receive it, I haven't seen it yet (it's an MS Office Professional 2010 by the way) and I ordered it on 1st November; I've sent emails, no feedback yet (and I could've sworn you state on your auto-replies that you reply within two business days, hm), it's not even showing on my account on the actual site. Personally I'm not happy with this, I want and NEED some answers, after all I've paid for the product, now where's the product? Where's the customer service? I'm definitely not going to advise any of my friends to use s4s, definitely not!
I'm still waiting for answers, and I hope you can answer me either by email or here...

from their website
How soon can I expect my software to be delivered?

All orders are usually dispatched within 24 hours when the item is in stock. Most orders are received within 3-5 working days. Software4Students operate under strict license agreements and must therefore validate a number of orders. This could lead to a delay in the delivery of your order of up to 21 days (Please note, this happens in under 2% of cases). Please see our terms and conditions for further information.
To view the status of your order, please login and go to Order History under My Accounts.

I had to wait about 3 weeks for win 7 pro....which was slightly annoying, but nowhere near as annoying as paying the price PCWorld were asking :D
If you are desperate for your software, and really do need it "now, may I suggest you cancel your order, either get a refund or chargeback to your card, and get it direct download

On a less flippant note, you could even download the trial, and use that until you have your product key..

I have ordered several items from them, and all have arrived in good time.
(I like to get things on disk, as I don't trust downloads, not least because files can be deleted or corrupted!)
