Morning all! I don't normally post much, but I am determined to get myself motivated and working hard on budgeting and such. So here I am.
DS (almost 2yrs) has finally decided he wants to sleep, although about an hour late for his normal naptime. I've been sorting through paperwork. DH was a bit obsessive about getting PPI's on credit cards and loans, so we're sorting through all those. I'm making a list organising bills, when they generally come in, how much, and so on. What a headache!!
I've also got to pop down (in the rain!) and pay the council tax today. Ah well, it's only water, really. DS hates the rain cover though, so it's bound to be a struggle. Thank goodness I got the laundry done yesterday, or I'd have clothes hanging all over the house drying today!
Had some bloodwork done at the surgery last week, and they INSIST that I have to speak to the GP to get the results. So, half a day wasted tomorrow while I go in and get that done. Plus, of course, you know they only do that when there is something wrong, so now I'm stressing over what it might be.
On the plus side, I found a check for £25 that we got from the removal company that I forgot to put into the bank! So yay money!!
Hope everyone's day is going well, regardless of the drenching rain!MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0 -
Happy Anniversary, Mr and Mrs AnnieStar!
Welcome to TattooedLady and Triggles - glad you have joined us!
Well, I have actually cleared up a load of paperwork - don't know where the motivation came from but I really got stuck in. The shredder is groaning and I've made several trips to the recycling bin outside; I still have some more but I finally got fed up and decided to have a break before lunch. I'll finish it tomorrow but at least I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!
Still raining and I just know it won't stop for the rest of the day.
I've spoken to my Mum who is definitely better so that's a relief.
I shall brave the rain at about 2pm to go to the bank and also pick up some milk and fruit from the shops - the grandchildren love fruit and I've been a bit tight with it because it's just me here. I haven't decided what I'll have for dinner tonight but I think it will be kippers because I've just seen them in the fridge. I'll have them with some potato wedges which I will try in the Remoska. I've made some Artisan bread dough and might try baking a loaf in the Remoska, too, although the dough hasn't really risen much - don't know why but I'm not wasting it!
Well, off for some lunch - will call back later.
Hope no-one is getting soaked!

Afternoon everyone, I'm a long (LONG) time lurker, but I've finally decided that I need to join in and start o/sing properly and make the changes I choose to do before I'm forced to make lots of changes all at once because of the price hikes (IYSWIM). So, anyway, hi
and *hugs* to anyone who wishes one. It's wierd weather round here again today - either cold and yuck, or warm and muggy, alternating about hourly... the air con in the office is making it about bearable right enough. I've meal-planned up until friday *yay* and I'm inventorying everything then so I can pick the brains of you lovely people for some ideas, and I've had a look in my desk drawers and decided to inventory them, as well.... I've enough in here for breakfast and lunch for about a fornight, barring milk and fruit! Crazy.Anyway, plan for today: work little cotton socks off on new project at work. Get home, prepare dinner (twice baked potatoes - already baked once! - with mexicana cheese and bacon and garlic roasted butternut squash - already roasted when oven was on, just a reheat) and whilst that's grilling I'm going to reorganise my "mixing bowls and plastic boxes" cupboard so I'm not brained by 27 lids every time I open the door...Right, I'm off to enjoy some more threads with my lunch!

Afternoon all,
Welcome to all newbies, you will like it here.
Hugs to all in strife of any kind
Happy anniversary Mr & Mrs Anniestar...
Good luck to all job hunters
Got lots of clothes dry yesterday, no rain and none so far to-day...temperature not so hot, if you'll pardon the pun. No washing to do to-day but lots of ironing if I can be bothered!
Have picked about a kilo of raspberries since I came home and eaten them all myself as OH is not a raspberry lover...we bought some nice strawberries on way back from wedding and I have been enjoying them too....have even been good enough not to add cream or ice-cream.
OH has to have a heart monitor on for 24 hours from next Monday and then back to consultant on 14th August. He was very well while we were away so hopefully all will be well.
Have sorted two bags for charity shop so far this week, hoping to make it a third to-day for delivery to-morrow...feeling soooo virtuous
Have a good day all

Tried the lentil pate that I made last night and everyone seems to really like it.
DH has eaten about a third of a large loaf tin of it!!!!!
The milk loaf I made yesterday was nearly as nice as the french loaf so I thought I would try a basic white loaf today but got in a tizz pressing the election buttons so fingers crossed!
The panny remembers what you set it up for even after being turned off, swiched off and the plug taken out!
Hester
Big hug and may the MIL get what she deserves!!!!! You do not sound B****y - just fed up and tired.
No idea what to make for tea but might check the local supermarket for bargains later.
Going for a coffee now so see you later.
DH has just helpfully informed me that he knows two men whose wives are about my age and need knee operations because of their weight so I should be careful!!!"This site is addictive!"

Hiya folks - I'm back again!
Costco went well - I managed to only spent £35. I got a huge washing non-bio liquid, croissants (most are in the freezer now), potato scones (freezer), a huge pot of strawberries, tuna, and lots of other things that I now can't remember. I also took note of lots of prices and DH and I are going to go back soon to stock up on lots of things - most were far too big and heavy for me to carry. Though there were lots of helpful staff offering to help me!!!
Now totally knackered and so curled on sofa with nibbles and a film.
anniestar Happy anniversary

Hi all - I'm down south and the rain is appalling but I survived collecting the grandchildren from school. Goodness, but they have a lot of things to carry these days! They couldn't stay long because DGS has a disco at school tonight that his Mum was hoping he didn't feel like going to! She is a Geography teacher and has been on a field trip to the coast and spent the whole day out in the rain, bless her!
Costco sounds good, R.Mac - I don't think we have one near here. We do have a Makro but I don't do queues - the last time I went there I couldn't believe how long we had to wait to get through the tills and I haven't been back since.
I had to go to the bank before I fetched the LOs and popped into the charity shop and picked up a book for DGS and a puzzle for DGD and a lovely little wooden box that I might try and decorate and turn into a craft box for DGD for Christmas. I also picked up a couple of card-making kits in Home Plus which had some lovely embellishments so they can be the first things to go in her box.
Well, I'm going to have an early dinner and settle down to a bit of knitting. I was going to have kippers but the use-by date was the 4th so I've had to bin them; not very OS, I know, and I'm ashamed of myself! I haven't made that mistake for ages - I must keep an eye on things.
Kaat-Lady - My Artisan dough didn't really rise very much but I've pulled a loaf off and put it in the Remoska so I'll see how that turns out. I was always told to cover a newly-baked loaf with a teatowel to stop the top going crusty - perhaps you could try that next time. I don't like crusty bread, either. I've just looked in the Remoska and it's decided to rise now - I hope it stops before it reaches the lid! It's only been in there for five minutes with another 20 to go - I'd better keep an eye on it!
Mrs Moneypenny - have a great time tonight!
Well, I'd better go and find something else for dinner now that the kippers are a no-no.
Will catch up later.

[quote=mrs-moneypenny;.
i hope everyone manages to have something in their day to make them smile.
My Mum made me smile today - she was telling me that she had shown my DGS all the baby things she has been knitting for the Wooligans. She said 'don't worry, I'm not having a baby' (she's 77!) and he had rolled his eyes and said 'yeah, as if I'd think that!'. It was the way he said it, I think! Anyway, it made me smile.
I liked the sentiment, Mrs Moneypenny, of hoping that everyone has something in their day to make them smile. I think it's easy to focus on the worries and anxieties but, at the end of every day, I'm going to try and think of what made me smile that day, even if it is just one of the slightly distasteful emails my SIS and BIL send me!
