I was on a 2mb connection with NTL at £24.99 and phoned up asking directly what they would do to keep me and they offered me 1 month free and then 6 months half price. I tried pushing for more but he said that was the most he could offer. Guess I'll just have to phone again in 7 months time.0

I must be the unlucky one!
I tried this last night, they would not budge! iron maiden lady!!
I just reduced from 2mb to 1mb - £17.99
Will be switching phonme and internet to BT asap, there loss!
I bet then they'll beg me to stay and give me a huge discount!!0 -
I wonder why everyone is getting a different reply? I have a 1MB which was costing £17.99 (minus a discount of £2) and when I enquired about upgrading to 2MB and quoting Bulldog, Tiscali, Plusnet et al I was told that they could only offer me 1MB for £9.99. I wanted a 2MB deal but obviously settled for the 1MB saving £72 p.a. Happy, but still a little confused....If I had 8 hours to chop down a tree, I'd spend 6 hours sharpening my axe0

I was just unlucky, i know from people working there that, the "savers" team have to get a certain amount of points each month, if they get the full load they can just ignore people!
No doubt when i leave they will try their hardest, but to be honest it's like discrimination, to give other people a cheaper deal then other with no apparent reason!
Maybe i have a case0 -
I currently am coming towards the end of my NTL broadband contract.
was looking to cancel it, phone them up, they said they will offer 2mb service for £19.99 .
Still not good enough. 1. they lied to me and said if you go on ADSL max.support through their line is 1mb.
this was no ttrue when i checked it , it was 2mb. so they lied.
19.99 is too much when you can get it for £14.990 -
Ring 'em again and speak to someone else. I got 2mb BB with ntl for £15.50.0

Update:
I called them up again as I wasn't happy with the 2mb broadband for £19.99 for 12 months. This time I was offered £12.50 per month for 6 months. They said I can call back after 6 months to see what else they could offer then. I think this sounds better.
but still someone got 2mb BB for £15.50 ? Are you sure you havent also got NTL telephone and Cable TV, because they may offer lower price for people who have other services with NTL.0 -
Do these tactics work for business users too? We pay LOADS and its for our shop BB and phone, no telly or anything. Our bills are £50 a month not including calls. We don't download much but our shop website it up with ntl too. ANY advice would be most appreciated!!!!!Laughing at my ancient signature...voodoobaby now 10 years old:eek:0

phoned ntl yesterday and simply said that we are recieving no discounts on any of our services and are weighing up the costs of moving - ie sky for tv bt for phone etc and simply said what can you offer
they immediatly offered an upgrade to 1mb - cos it hadn't happened yet and reduced the cost from 17.99 to 9.99
i then mentioned the tv and said that we had analogue base pack for 3,50 a month but wern't sure about the mess and chew of turning digital so theyt said they would give us the analogue for free - saving 3.50 so we now only pay 10.50 phone rental and 9.99 bb
a saving of 11.50 a month for 12 months for a 15 minute phone call
brill result !
